Enriched with international exposure in teaching, Rabia has devoted her life to teaching and always tries to make Maths easy for students she teaches.

Rabia Basri is a Maths Teacher working at the Islamic Girls Organisation in Chennai. She is also the social media incharge of the organisation.

Rabia believes she is a born teacher as both her parents were teachers, and hence, it became her first career choice. She says, from childhood only she was very fond of teaching. She was influenced by her father. She recalls her father’s saying that we should train a child in a way that he won’t get departed from its values even in his last moments.

Rabia hails from Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh and all her education was completed there itself. She recalls how her father fell sick due to Cancer and how she had to leave her studies to get married. Though she has a PhD in Computer Science and MSc. in Mathematics, she left all her aspirations to bring up her kids and take care of her family in Saudi Arabia. But when her kids grew up and she came back to India, she finally started her career back with the support of her husband and her kids.

Rabia believes both education and practical experience must go together for a person’s overall development.

When asked about her role models, Rabia says she considers her father and prophet Mohammad as her role models.

Advising the teachers, Rabia says they should work for the betterment of the country and help produce better citizens for the future.

Talking about leadership, Rabia says she believes leaders are born, because in her opinion you can learn skill-sets but talent is given by the almighty.

Sharing her experience of the Pandemic, Rabia says  she experimented with different styles of teaching to bridge the gap between parents and children. She asked parents to sit, and spend time with their children to develop a strong bond between them.

During the pandemic Rabia worked for the needy along with the District Administration, arranging ICU beds, Oxygen Cylinders and other facilities for the needy.

Rabia believes we must not be scared of pandemics, rather we must fight and help the needy ones and God will be our guide.

Even if she is given a chance to go back in time and change something in her life, she would not want to change anything.

In her free time, Rabia likes to make power-point presentations about different topics.
