Pushpa chose to continue her family’s professional tradition since she had always had an affinity for the arts. She enjoys creating art and aims to promote handcrafted artists.

Pushpa Sahoo is an Artist at ‘Sampurna’.

Pushpa was born in the holy city of Puri in Odisha to a sculptor father and a homemaker mother. She has three more siblings who are also involved in various types of art and craft.

Pushpa did her Bachelor of Commerce and then completed a master's degree in HRM. Thereafter, after working in the corporate world for some time, she gave it all up to become a full-time mom. But the artist in her didn't take a break.

Pushpa says that as a child, she used to spend quite a lot of time among the artists in her father's studio, which exposed her to the art of sculpting, casting, and painting. She further says that while working as an HR professional, her passion for art made her the happiest. So, after a few years, she started her venture, ‘Art N Decor’, which went online in 2014. She designs artifacts in brass, stone, fiberglass, and Pattachitra. She works with weavers from a few clusters in Odisha, showcasing Odisha weaves on a national platform.

Pushpa says that she works with her father, who is a Padma Vibhushan awardee, on new designs. Under Art N Decor, she has started a venture called ‘Sampurna by Pushpa Sahoo’, which has the crafts of Odisha at heart. She gives live sessions, educating viewers about the various art forms of Odisha

Pushpa believes in giving back to society in whatever way we can. She takes up a lot of community-based activities and is involved in charities. She is quite vocal about the rights and responsibilities of community workers. She actively participates in social causes and encourages children to participate in such activities.

Pushpa says that her family and friends are her most extensive support system.

To all, Pushpa advises to always take pride in your country, your Indian heritage, and your arts and crafts. Each of us is the brand ambassador of our craft, and we have to protect our cultures. So, try your level best to preserve or carry your legacy. One can add their share by buying handcrafted products to help sustain the craft and the whole chain of crafting communities. It will help preserve the heritage. The next generation would follow the love for craft if they saw us supporting that craft, she says.
