An Engineer and Entrepreneur based in Udaipur, PS Talesra has carved his niche in the Instrumentation Control and Automation industry with his venture Pyrotech Electronics Pvt. Ltd, Udaipur.

PS was born and raised in Udaipur. He attended St. Paul’s school there. He did a BE(Hons.) in Electrical Engineering from BITS Pilani in 1972.

After completing his Engineering, PS did a job for four years. And then in 1976, he conceived Pyrotech with three other co-founders. He says that since the beginning itself he has aimed to create a niche for Pyrotech in the field of Instrumentation Control and Automation.

Talking about his childhood, PS says that he was a shy kid and at school would not participate much in sports and extracurricular activities. He was an average student academically. However in high school he worked really hard and was able to get a berth at the prestigious BITS Pilani.

PS thinks that studying Engineering is about problem solving and it’s never about mugging up the facts.

PS shares that after completing his Engineering course, he taught at an Engineering College in Udaipur. Later, he realized that teaching was not something he wanted to pursue for all his life. Then he moved to Ajmer and worked at an engineering company for four years. And there he happened to meet his co-founders.

PS says that with an aim to do something of their own, all the four co-founders conceived Pyrotech and started small from Udaipur. Their first products were thermocouples and resistance thermometers. Today they have more than a hundred products in the Electronics and Thermal Solutions categories.

PS says that since the beginning there has been a clear-cut separation of roles and responsibilities of people at Pyrotech. He says that all the founders of Pyrotech still look after the R&D department at the company all by themselves.

PS thinks that in any business it’s paramount to take the feedback of consumers seriously to be able to scale up the business.

PS says that he has always worked hard but he never really had to face any struggles in life as such as he always maintained a low profile and was always patient in growing his business.

To the youth of today who want to do their own business, PS advises them to take up a job for four to five years after completing their college education and then only they should venture out on their own as it’s very tough for a person who is freshly graduated to start their own venture. Besides, he advises them to always remain honest in their business.

Being able to grow Pyrotech well beyond his expectations is his greatest achievement as PS says.

His parents, the then Father-Principal of his alma mater, and his high school teachers have been his greatest source of inspiration and have influenced his life a lot.

PS thinks that if you have a good Education then everything else will automatically follow. Besides, he thinks that one must endeavor to put their theoretical knowledge to test to make use of their education in a real sense.

PS feel that Gender Equality is the need of the hour. He laments that our country ranks far below in the Gender Equality Index. He is of the opinion that one should not be discriminated against based on their gender and women should be encouraged and empowered to follow their dreams.
