As the Head of the Department of Applied Sciences at Amity University, Professor Jagdish oversees various programmes, emphasizing the provision of a conducive teaching and research environment for students. Throughout his academic career, he has held esteemed positions including Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW), Professor Head, Warden, Vice-Principal, and Principal.

Prof. Jagdish is the Head of the Department of Amity School of Applied Sciences at Amity University, Jaipur. He looks after the various programmes, like M.Sc. Physics, M.Sc. Mathematics, M.Sc. Chemistry, and B.Sc.

Prof. Jagdish was the head of the statistics department and a professor at Rajasthan University in the past. He was the vice principal and subsequently the principal of one of Rajasthan University's constituent colleges. He was employed at Rajasthan University until 2015. In 2016, he became the Head of the Applied Sciences Department and a professor at Amity University.

Research is conducted at Amity School of Applied Sciences in several fields, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, and atmospheric and environmental sciences. He oversees these many PhD programmes. Students who graduate from Amity with an M.Sc. degree go on to work for various Indian and foreign firms after passing the NET and GATE exams. The Amity University system is excellent and offers students a superb atmosphere for learning and research.

For six months, Amity students complete projects at various companies outside campus, gaining exposure to various sectors of the economy. The Amity School of Applied Sciences has announced the introduction of two new programmes: a four-year B.Sc. in Forensic Science and a two-year M.Sc. in the same subject. According to him, the students will benefit from this programme, which will be heavily focused on employment opportunities.

Prof. Jagdish received first-division honours from Rajasthan University for his bachelor's degree, which he earned in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Then, in 1978, he decided to pursue an M.Sc. in Statistics. He passed it with merits and was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship by the CSIR. He chose to pursue his PhD after being awarded the grant, and he finished it in 1982. Later on, Rajasthan University appointed him as an assistant professor. Subsequently, he believed that statistics is a widely accepted and significant topic with applications in all areas of study; therefore, he focused only on statistical analysis and research.

Prof. Jagdish reflects on his early years, stating that he attended a government school while growing up in a relatively remote place. Despite having very few facilities and resources, he can still recall the professors' commitment to their students. According to him, his secondary school was 6 km away at the time, and there were no transit options. In addition to walking kilometres every day, he used to work in agriculture after school. He studied while using a candle or under a chimney light. But he succeeded in achieving his objectives with his parents' blessing.

His father, a retired school lecturer, is someone he looks up to. And the reason he does not have any bad habits even now is because of the education and direction his father provided him. All of his academic accomplishments may be attributed to his father.

Prof. Jagdish finds great motivation in Dr. Ambedkar's words, "Be educated, fight, and stay united." He thinks you can make significant progress in life if you embrace each of these thoughts.

Speaking about his difficulties, Prof. Jagdish states that the first one he faced was meeting his familial obligations, which included taking care of his elderly parents and younger siblings. However, he has handled all obstacles—financially, socially, and personally—with remarkable composure, bravery, and diligence.

The greatest thing that Prof. Jagdish has accomplished is raising his family to unprecedented levels of social, economic, and intellectual success. Second, he promotes all five PhD holders, physicians, engineers, and MBAs in his family. Through hard work and determination, he has succeeded in academics, receiving all the tasks and positions that a scholar should have. He occupied every position at Rajasthan University, including vice-principal, Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW), warden, and principal. In addition, he was the recipient of several honours and served as an expert at various universities and on the UPSC and RPSC committees. His accomplishment is that he worked honestly and as per his abilities.

He suggests that the ultimate goal in life shouldn't be to become an engineer or doctor. According to him, this is one of the greatest programmes in applied sciences, which gives students the opportunity to work in pharma businesses or the corporate world or become scientists, professors, chemists, or pharmacists. Students might choose to major in applied sciences instead of NEET or JEE because there are many employment options in these fields.
