With over 100 research publications, three books, and a patent to his credit, Prof. (Dr.) Shailendra Singh has distinguished himself as Dean of Engineering at Oriental University. He is also an esteemed member of the IEEE, USA and serves as the Vice Chair of the  IEEE India Council.

Prof. (Dr.) Shailendra Singh holds the position of Dean-Faculty of Engineering at Oriental University, Indore.

He explains that the Faculty of Engineering at Oriental University comprises four key departments that are Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.

Originally from Satna, Madhya Pradesh, Prof. (Dr.) Shailendra Singh completed his schooling in his hometown itself. He then went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Chennai. Furthering his academic progress, he obtained an M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), Bhopal, where he also completed his Ph.D. in the same discipline.

Reflecting on his career in the field of education, Prof. (Dr.) Shailendra Singh states that teaching had always been his passion. He used to find great fulfillment in delivering lectures and guiding students, which ultimately inspired him to pursue a career in academia.

When asked about his role models, Prof. (Dr.) Shailendra Singh says he finds profound inspiration in the life and values of the Missile Man of India, the late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He deeply admires Dr. Kalam’s simplicity and relentless dedication, which have greatly influenced his own life.

One of the quotes that resonates with him the most is,

"Small aim is a crime, have a great aim."

He believes this powerful message has motivated countless young individuals to dream big and strive relentlessly to achieve their goals. According to him, Dr. Kalam’s vision serves as a guiding force for everyone, encouraging people to set ambitious aspirations and work diligently towards them.

He further shares the quote,

"कार्य ही पूजा है" (Work is Worship),

emphasizing that sincerity and dedication in one’s work are the key elements of success. He encourages individuals to uphold honesty and integrity in their profession, believing that a strong work ethic not only leads to personal growth but also contributes significantly to the success of the organization they are a part of.

Addressing the younger generation, Prof. (Dr.) Shailendra Singh expresses concern that today's youth are becoming increasingly self-focused. He urges them to not only think about their own ambitions but also think about the well-being of their family, friends, and society. Emphasizing the importance of contributing to the progress of the state and the nation, he encourages young individuals to take responsibility for their growth and actively participate in the country's development. Additionally, he advises limiting excessive mobile phone usage to stay focused on meaningful goals and real-world interactions.
