Leaving her Engineering field behind, Priyank pursued her passion for Dance to make a career in it. She started her Dance Studio along with a startup in the Haircare domain.

Priyanka Barua is an Artist based in Delhi. She runs her Dance School under the name ‘Flow School of Dance and Arts’ in Delhi. Along with this, she takes care of her new startup in the Hair Care segment, brand named ‘Hairveda’. Besides this, she is also a Computer Teacher in a Private School.

Priyanka completed her schooling from Delhi itself. She is a Computer Engineer and did Masters in Computer Science from CDAC, Noida. She was always fond of dancing since childhood, but she started getting recognition in it during her Engineering. She pursued her career in Dance and worked at the National School of Drama. Then she opened her own Dance School in 2019.

When asked about role models, Priyanka says that her role models kept on changing at every phase of her life but they all have one thing in common and that is discipline. She says about her teachers that they always stood firm and never gave up in any situation and that’s what inspired her a lot to move forward in life. Apart from this, her friends have always been her inspiration for always supporting her and guiding her forward in life.

During the Covid pandemic, Priyanka’s Dance Studio was closed and she hasn’t been able to reopen it yet. Her hair care brand, which had  just been launched on all platforms, also came to a halt due to the lockdown. Amidst difficulties, she gradually started her dance classes on online platforms and got some funds raised to help local artists in times of despair. She also helped the underprivileged children and women with money, food and medical aid.

Talking about struggles, Priyanka says that leaving her Engineering field behind just to pursue her career in Dance was a very challenging decision for her. She also struggled a lot to convince her family members that she would do well in this field. She even faced financial challenges in the initial days as well as during the Corona period as her studio was closed and there was no other source of income. Still, she kept courage and coped up well with things moving forward.

About her achievements, Priyanka says that her work is her achievement because people appreciate her work with true intentions. Also, she organized the first ever event in Asia for Teachers of Contact Improvisation, and she feels proud for that. Also, she designed a workshop to establish a connection between children and parents which was a successful project. In addition, she has also been nominated to become a member of an internationally affiliated dance organization under UNESCO, which is no less than an achievement for her.

Priyanka tells everyone that there is nothing more important than yourself in this world, so do whatever you want to do and follow your passion, no matter what profession you are in. She suggests everyone to work hard towards your goal to succeed in life.
