Priyadarshani Ghosh is a dancer by profession. She says that dance has been a major part of her life. She has been dancing since the age of four. For her, dance has been therapeutic throughout her journey.
Priyadarshani hails from Kolkata. She is the Artistic Director at Natyanova Performing Arts Centre. She is a classically trained dancer but has explored various other contemporary forms of dance as well.
Recalling her childhood memories, Priyadarshani says that she had a very fortunate childhood and she belonged to an artistically inclined family. She says that her family always encouraged her passion for dancing. She began learning dance at a premier institute called Children’s Little Theater.
Talking about her challenges, Priyadarshani says that when she was young, people did not encourage Indian traditional art much. She lacked guidance on what career path to choose. She says that earlier, earning money with performing arts was a major challenge that artists used to face.
When asked about her mistakes, Priyadarshini says she believes that her mistakes have been a learning process. One mistake she would consider was not learning how to publicize properly. However, she says she has always learned from her mistakes.
Speaking about her achievements, Priyadarshini says that continuing the learning process at the age of sixty is her biggest accomplishment. Moreover, getting a fellowship to teach students in the USA is yet another accomplishment Priyadarshini talks about.
Priyadarshini says that her family is her very first role model as they always encouraged her to pursue what she wanted to. Additionally, she considers her different gurus as her role models who have taught her different aspects of life and performing arts as well.
In her free time, Priyadarshini loves to travel and read.
To the youngsters, Priyadarshini advises them to be with things that give them peace. Make a choice and slowly work to achieve the best you can.
