Priya Joshi is currently working in the Mathematics Department of S.S. Engineering College, Udaipur. She did her B.Sc. and M.Sc in Mathematics from M.L.S.U..
Priya hails from a small village, Kushalgarh in Banswara. She did her schooling till 10th from Kushalgarh itself and for not having any English medium school in the village, she moved to Udaipur. Then she completed her 11th and 12th choosing mathematics as her subject, from St. Anthony’s School. She has always been interested in maths, loved doing calculations, playing with numbers and had an affinity for this subject since childhood.
Although there has not been any struggle in Priya’s life but when she came to Udaipur for further studies, her financial condition had worsened a bit. To overcome that challenge, she taught private tuitions for five consecutive years of her college in addition to attending her classes. Her results were compromised as she was not able to devote much time to her studies.
Priya feels that coming to Udaipur is an achievement for her because not every student is able to move out of their town or city for studies. She also used to take tuitions of children, so their good results is an achievement for her too.
Priya recommends the students to opt for maths in 11th and 12th class. She says instead of getting afraid of this subject, try to move step-by-step to get a hang of it. After schooling, there is a scope in the Engineering field where maths is a useful subject. In fact, in today’s time, maths holds a huge role in the field of research too.
Priya laments that even in the twenty-first century, people in villages have conservative mindset towards girls' education. But if they don’t have any problem in worshipping the goddess of learning, who is a female for a fact, then why would they stop girls from learning. So the only advice she gives to these people is to promote girls education, let these girls learn and let them move ahead in life.
Priya suggests that if you have a fulfilled life, then you should definitely give free education to one child to make his life better and earn their blessings for life.
If someone wants to become a maths faculty or is interested in teaching maths further, Priya recommends them to never demotivate a child. Also, you should have your basic concepts clear about the subject to lay a strong foundation for it in the children.
Priya says that the Covid Pandemic has been bad for everyone and for her too because she had to work from home and because she is a working woman she didn't like being at home. Also she had to face some financial troubles during that time. She even explains that if one of your financial resources is closed then you can turn to another like making a video on youTube about your field and earn money. You just need to look inside yourself and you can do everything.
In her freetime, she likes to do plantations because it is ultimately useful for us only. She requests everyone to plant a tree before building your house because if you can break trees to make furniture in your homes then you should take an initiative to plant a tree before constructing one.
If Priya gets a chance to time travel, she would love to relive her childhood. She wants to go back to her school time and since she is the second child of her house, she has missed the love and affection that is given to the first child. So she wants to go back to that time.
Priya advises students that extracurricular activities are as important as education. Therefore, you should participate in sports too and stay physically fit.
