Prithvi Pal Singh is the Managing Director at the AHA Institute of Hotel Management and Aviation in Udaipur which is affiliated to the Rajasthan ILD Skills University.
Prithvi shares that his institute provides various types of courses, like Bachelors in Hotel Management and diploma courses such as Diploma in Aviation and Hospitality, Diploma in Cruise Management, and Trade Diploma in Food Production, F&B, Front Office, and Housekeeping. These courses are skill-based, and the minimum eligibility criteria is twelfth grade. They also offer various courses in the aviation stream, like a Bachelor in Airline and Airport Management and different diploma courses like Diploma in cabin crew, air hostess, ground staff, and customer services. They also provide vocational, industrial, and job training, as well as guaranteed job placements.
Prithvi was born in Sojat, Pali. He belonged to a middle-class family and completed his education in Rajasthan itself. His father was a Bank Manager and got frequently transferred to different cities in Rajasthan. In 1996, his father was transferred to Udaipur, and Prithvi started studying at a private school there. Prithvi had been interested in the creative field since childhood and wanted to do something different. However, due to his father’s pressure, he took science in the eleventh grade. He completed his twelfth in 2003.
Talking about his journey, Prithvi says that he was always interested in hotel management as he likes to interact with people and explore new places. He says that after completing his twelfth grade, he dropped his studies for one year. Initially, he attempted the PMT due to family pressure but didn’t succeed. After a lot of resistance, his parents allowed him to do a hotel management course, and he went to Jaipur to pursue the same. At the time of his internship, he got a placement at The Oberoi Udaivilas Hotel, Udaipur. He started working in this field at the age of eighteen and gained a lot of experience. He also got the opportunity to work in Mississippi, USA, and spent one year there. He learned professionalism and self-dependency by working in the USA. Then he got hired by a University as a trainer and worked there for four years. After gaining experience in both the corporate and education sectors of the hotel management industry, he decided to start his own business. He started his own institute with just eight students. Gradually the strength increased, and now he has become quite successful in this field.
When asked about his challenges, Prithvi says that when he joined this field, the first challenge faced by him was a lack of communication skills as he had done his schooling in the Hindi medium. However, he gained a lot of experience and confidence while working with The Oberoi Udaivilas Hotel and also enjoyed the corporate culture there. Then, when he started his own business, he faced difficulties managing the investments for the institute. He also faced many challenges while running the institute and providing the best facilities and services to the students.
Sharing his experiences, Prithvi says that he has faced many ups and downs in his journey. He gained much experience in the field of hotel management through his hard work and struggle. He believes that a positive attitude and down-to-earth behaviour are helpful in achieving success. According to him, it is also very important to be a good listener.
Talking about his achievements, Prithvi says that he was a brilliant student in college. In the corporate field too, he was adjudged the ‘Best Employee’ and ‘Best Manager’ by The Oberoi Group of Hotels. The biggest accomplishment for him was that he got the J-1 visa for the USA because of his knowledge and skills. He says that travelling to different places plays an important role in enhancing your knowledge, confidence, and skills.
Prithvi advises everyone that passion and zeal are required to succeed in any field. In the training field, two things are very important: the best product and satisfied pupils.
Prithvi’s role model is his father, as he is a very dedicated person and always motivated him towards education. He learned to take everyone along with you from his father. He also admires the teachings of Swami Vivekanand and the words of Ratan Tata. The two quotes that inspire him are "Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached" and "Take decisions first and then make them right." He is also a big fan of MS Dhoni and has learned teamwork from him. He also got inspiration from his mother.
Prithvi’s success mantra is ‘If you start any work, then complete it.’ He says to achieve success, it is important to have discipline, punctuality, teamwork, motivation, self-dependency, and patience. Work according to your interests and put in hard work to fulfil your dreams.
In his spare time, Prithvi goes to the gym and plays sports.
To beat stress, Prithvi likes to play sports. He has learned to be calm in any situation from sports. According to him, it is very important to be physically fit to be mentally strong.
Advising the young generation, Prithvi says that it is important to be involved in social activities like plantations. It is the responsibility of the youth and every citizen of the country to follow the rules to maintain hygiene and cleanliness.
