Prem Kumar Singh is a mountaineer and has been climbing mountains for over a decade now.
Prem grew up in a small place named Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh. He studied till tenth grade in his hometown itself. Then he moved to Delhi where he did his high school and college. He did a Bachelors in Business Economics from Delhi University.
Prem shares that he climbed his first mountain peak in 2012. And since then, he has done around fifty expeditions on different continents, he says. He claims to have climbed Mount Everest too.
Talking about his challenges, Prem says that when he started mountaineering, he did not have proper equipment and guidance. Besides, he didn’t possess much knowledge about which mountains to summit, etc. However, he says that things have changed now as the community of mountaineers is so huge now.
Talking about his role models, Prem says that he has many role models from the field of mountaineering. Metaphorically he considers the Himalayas to be his main role model. Some of the famous mountaineers like Reinhold Messner, Junko Tabei, Tenzing Norgay and others are his role models too.
Talking about his achievements, Prem says that he climbed Mount Everest when he was twenty-two. Besides, he also climbed the highest mountain peak in South America, Aconcagua. Further, he has also climbed the highest mountain peak in Europe.
To aspiring mountaineers, Prem advises them not to take to mountaineering if they just want to conquer certain mountain peaks or want to be the first in certain categories. You should have a bigger purpose why you want to do mountaineering, he says.
His Life Mantra is to live with a smile on his face even if he is the last person to live.
In his spare time, Prem likes to think about mountaineering and also read books. Besides, he also likes mountain biking, music, etc.
Prem shares a piece of his learning, he says that you should know when to quit when things don’t work out.
