Preety Yadav is a true inspiration for community service and social welfare. Born and brought up in Udaipur, Preety has dedicated her life to carrying forward her father's legacy of working towards the betterment of society. As an active member of the NGO Pilgrim Vision, she tirelessly works towards providing food and water to those in need. Her passion for serving others is evident from the extensive work she undertakes to implement healthy eating habits among villagers.
Preety’s NGO is also installing RO water plants in government schools. Till date, they have put up about 100 RO plants and covered almost all government schools in Udaipur, benefiting more than 20,000 students.
Looking back, Preety now regrets not being more involved with her father's NGO when she had the chance. She recognizes the immense effort that went into establishing and sustaining the organization, and wishes she had done more to support him. Despite the challenges they faced, Preety recognizes the importance of such causes and wishes she had played a bigger role in making a difference.
Speaking about sacrifices, Preety says she thinks they were significant as she had to give up opportunities in her personal life to prioritize her involvement with her father's NGO. She had to miss exams and interviews, which were crucial for her career growth. However, she acknowledges the importance of giving time and effort to the NGO work, recognizing the impact it could have on others' lives. Despite the challenges they faced, Preety persevered and is now proud that their NGO is running smoothly and making a difference in spreading awareness about cancer.
Although she has had no setbacks in life, losing her father was a setback of sorts. Now, she is carrying on the NGO work in her father’s memory. One change is that earlier she helped her father as an assistant, but now she has had to take command herself. Sometimes she regrets the fact that, due to the NGO work, she could not give much time to her father in his last days. However, she takes comfort in knowing that she made his last days as comfortable as possible.
Preety and her team have been receiving a lot of support from abroad lately for their work installing RO plants. Her sister-in-law, who also works in Germany doing similar work, has been a great help to them. Thanks to the increasing support, they have been able to increase their installation rate from one plant every two months to sometimes even two plants in a month.
Preety's success mantra revolves around providing food and clean water to as many people as possible to prevent diseases. Despite the setbacks brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, their organization's momentum has started picking up once again.
Her father began a cancer awareness project, but unfortunately, he himself was diagnosed with fourth stage lung cancer in 2019. During his treatment days, he was full of energy and never expressed his pain on his face. He was even active in his cancer awareness project to educate patients about lifestyle changes that could help manage their condition. He wanted to spread a positive message to others that, in order to fight cancer effectively, one must incorporate the right kind of diet and habits along with medical treatments. Preety is following in his footsteps, and her NGO helps educate people about these principles.
When asked about her core strengths, Preety says that the community and the support of her family are her core strengths. She, along with her five brothers and cousins and her sister-in-law, does all the work after proper discussions. She says that everyone cooperates in the work, and there have never been any disputes. They have been doing the work for the last five years with good understanding. Her family has always been together in this pursuit of doing good for the needy. She says that though they have never refused anyone if they wanted to join, not many have come forward, and she and her family have been doing it themselves.
Preety's work involves providing nutritious food and clean water to impoverished communities in remote areas through her NGO. She is dedicated to installing RO water plants in schools and educating children about the importance of drinking clean water. Her NGO has already helped many villages, including Umarda, Pai and Undri. Additionally, Preety is actively working towards educating cancer patients on lifestyle changes that can help them manage their illness, with a specific focus on children under 20 years old.
Preety says her father is her role model in life. She says that he dealt with his cancer in an exemplary way. He continued the NGO work even in that condition and did not think about himself. So, he has been her inspiration and will always be. She has learned a lot from him. Even until he breathed his last, he did his own work and looked after himself.
Apart from the NGO work, her idea of fun is music and friends. She loves listening to music. She also likes to spend time with some of her close friends, who have always helped her in her work. But she loves it the most when all her five brothers and two sisters gather together and have a lot of fun.
Preety’s message for the newcomers is that anyone who wants to do such community work may join her. But, anyone joining her NGO must only think about the needy and not about themselves. Help others as much as possible. She says that if you help others, good will come to you.
Anyone desirous of joining her NGO shall leave a message on her website, Pilgrim Vision e.v., which is managed by the CEO of the NGO. Besides, people can connect with them on their Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter pages. She says that they do not want money from people, but anyone who can help in other ways must join her NGO.
