Prayag’s hobby of cooking dragged him to the hotel industry where he plunged into the sales field due to his public-relation trait and today he is working at a prominent hotel of the Taj Group.

Prayag Shukla is currently working as a Assistant Sales Manager at Taj Aravali Resort & Spa, Udaipur.

Prayag was born in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh but was brought up in Udaipur. He did his schooling from St. Paul’s Senior Secondary School. Then he did his Hotel Management from IHM, Ahmedabad. Soon, his interest in the sales field started growing, and eventually, he stepped into it.

Prayag shares that he started his journey as a Sales Coordinator at Radisson Blu Udaipur Palace Resort and Spa.

Recalling his childhood, Prayag says that since childhood, he was very fond of cooking and always dreamt of opening a restaurant in the future. He cherishes every moment he spent with his father in his childhood.

Talking about his role models, Prayag says he considers his father as his biggest role model for teaching him a very good life lesson that there are many other lives attached to your life. Therefore think twice before taking any step in life so that those lives remain unaffected by your decision.

When asked about his struggles, Prayag says he always had ups and downs in his career. He says he had to move to Ahmedabad because of his job and that was the first time when he stayed away from his family. That was quite a challenging phase for him. Besides, his father’s demise was a shocker for him and he struggled to get out of it and move forward in his life.

Regarding his achievements, Prayag says that he considers his biggest achievement in seeing the smile on her mother’s face because of his success.

Sharing his COVID experience, Prayag says that he was in Ahmedabad when COVID struck. He lost his job due to the sinking of the hospitality industry, so he came back to Udaipur. He was not getting a job here either, so he worked in a hospital for six months. His wait ended when an opportunity came in from a hotel and he made his comeback in the hotel industry. On the personal front, he spent quality time with his family and played various games while staying at home.

According to Prayag, experience matters more than education to build any career. He believes that if you are a good learner, then you can learn from anything, be it books or experiences and it does not need to be a formal education. He further says that books will never teach you what people and your life experiences can teach you.

About leadership, Prayag says that he doesn’t consider himself a leader but a good follower. He believes that a good leader must have the qualities of taking responsibility, letting others take their own decisions, and taking everyone along in the journey.

If Prayag had a Time Machine, he would like to go back in time and spend more time with his father.

In his spare time, Prayag loves to cook and feed others.

If anyone wants to make a career in the hotel industry, Prayag advises them that it offers huge scope to work in with new opportunities every day. He tells them to have a hunger to learn and they will do wonders in this industry.
