A Tattoo Artist from Gwalior city, Prathvi Raj puts his work above all else as he thinks that every person who became successful in life considered their work as their only worship.

Prathvi Raj Wadhwani is the Founder of Gwalior based Shiva Tattoo Studio which he has been running for the past thirteen years.

Prathvi Raj was born and raised in Gwalior. He received his entire formal education in Gwalior itself. After completing his schooling, he attended Maharani Laxmi Bai College for his Bachelors and M.Phil. Thereafter, he did an MBA in Finance from Prestige College.

Prathvi Raj shares that on one occasion he wanted to have a tattoo inked on his skin and for that he was required to go to either Delhi or Mumbai as Gwalior did not have any known tattoo artist back then. However, his work commitments didn’t allow him to travel to another city for this. That’s when he thought of coming up with his own tattoo studio.

In 2013, Prathvi Raj learned the art of tattooing from Goa based Jack Studio.Then he learned the art in Delhi for a brief period. Later, he also went to Mumbai and attended tattoo workshops and worked with known tattoo artists based there. In 2018, he founded his own tattoo studio by the name Shiva Tattoo Studio in Gwalior.

Talking of Covid, Prathvi Raj says that the pandemic left everyone debilitated personally and economically both. However, capitalizing on his spare time during the pandemic, he improved on his digital art skills. And when things started to normalize, he was able to make up for the financial losses caused by the pandemic.

Prathvi Raj accepts that there’s no denying the fact that getting a tattoo inked on skin may cause Skin Cancer. However, he advises that one must always get a tattoo done from an experienced and learned tattoo artist to avert the same.

Prathvi Raj says that initially he was preparing for government job examinations, however later he realized that he was not meant to do the same task at a stretch. After exploring what he was good at, he narrowed down to Interior Designing and Tattoo Art. He chose the latter as he thought choosing it would bring him unqualified admiration of people.

Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was Prathvi’s first and foremost role model as he also wanted to become a scientist like him growing up. Besides, Manohar Kohil -a Mumbai based tattoo artist, has also been his inspiration and role model as after meeting him, Prathvi’s journey as a tattoo artist began in a real sense.

Prathvi Raj thinks that there aren’t any prerequisites for becoming a tattoo artist. One just needs to have a zeal to learn the art of tattooing. He recommends aspiring tattoo artists to do a course in the same discipline to learn the art in-depth.
