Pratap Singh is a Martial Art Trainer and founder of ‘Pratap Singh Martial Arts and Yoga School of India’ in Jaipur. He has been teaching martial arts for the past twelve years. He says that not only India but people from Dubai and other countries also come to take training from him. He is an engineer by education.
Pratap belongs to a small village in Karauli district of Rajasthan. He did his primary schooling from there. At the age of ten, he shifted to Jaipur. The struggle in his life started from there. His journey from village to city was quite difficult to adjust to. Other children used to bully him a lot in school. Feeling feeble, he started learning martial arts in 6th std, to teach a lesson to his batch mates. But coming from a poor background, his parents could not support his professional training. With the help of his friend’s father, he got admission in professional martial arts training at the Airports Authority of India.
Just after five months, his father asked Pratap to stop his training and focus on studies to get a government job. But he never gave up on martial arts. He himself used to practice it at home. Soon, he regularized his practice. He won several medals in the championships at the district and state level. Soon he got a black belt in Karate and Taekwondo. In 2013, he became a national player in Taekwondo. He was selected to go out-of-country for the World championships and CommonWealth games but due to lack of financial support, he could not go. He did not even have enough funds to get his passport made. Instead of getting disappointed, he started giving self-defense training in different cities of the country. Gradually, he started giving training to the Army and Police personnel of the states as well. In no time, he earned a lot of fame and recognition in this field .
Talking about his childhood, Pratap says that he was a very simple and intelligent kid in his childhood. Along with studies, he was always ahead in sports too. He was also the beloved child of the house.
When asked about his role models, Pratap says he considers his grandmother as his role model for always encouraging and motivating him to follow his passion and teaching him to walk on the right path. He also draws inspiration from his teachers, training coach, father and mother for supporting him at every step of his life.
Pratap advises that if you want to achieve your goal, no matter what, you should never step back. Just keep moving forward because every failure of your life will take you one step ahead towards success. Further, he says, you must try your best to make your tomorrow better than today.
Pratap advises today’s generation not to get distracted by bad things and bad company. Moreover, he says always treat everyone with respect either younger or older than you.
