Prashant Sinha is a renowned caricature artist and the founder and director of Prashant Arts in Pune.
His artistic journey began in 2007, but a significant turning point came when his wife joined him in the field. Despite coming from a different professional background, she learned everything about the art and became a strong pillar of support for Prashant. Her effective communication with clients and their teamwork played a key role in the growth and success of his business.
Today, Sinha leads a team of 8 to 10 artists, with his work expanding far beyond caricatures. His portfolio includes portraits, wall paintings, merchandise, and more. Recently, his wedding card section has gained immense popularity, particularly for its innovative videos and wedding e-cards.
One of Sinha’s proudest achievements is the recognition he has received for his work, including creating sketches of Bollywood celebrities. He considers bringing smiles to over two lakh people through his art his greatest accomplishment.
Prashant Sinha grew up in Allahabad, where his passion for painting and drawing developed at an early age. Determined to pursue a career in the arts, he graduated from the College of Arts and Crafts in Lucknow and later completed his master's degree at Fine Arts College, Baroda.
After finishing his education, Sinha moved to Mumbai for a job. However, a year later, he relocated to Pune, where he began freelancing as a caricature artist. He chose this art form because he believed it had the unique power to bring smiles to people's faces. During his time in Pune, he also worked as an in-house artist at a restaurant, where interactions with customers provided him with both compliments and valuable suggestions about exploring other artistic fields.
Over time, Prashant Sinha launched his own website, which helped him attract more work. His experience at the restaurant also played a significant role in building his client base and team. Slowly, he began to delegate tasks and expand his business. Prashant also ventured into live events, including corporate functions and birthday parties, where he showcased caricature art in an innovative way. His presentations helped popularise caricature art beyond its traditional use in magazines and newspapers, making it more accessible and appreciated by the public.
Sinha sees caricature art as a way to spread joy, which is why he chose it as his career. Reflecting on his journey, he doesn’t see learning art as a mistake but admits that focusing exclusively on one form of art early in his career was limiting. Eventually, he branched out into other forms, which enhanced his artistic skills.
When asked about his role models, Prashant names his teacher, Ravinder Kushwaha, as a key influence in his life. He also credits Dilip Chobey, from whom he learned the art of caricature, as another important role model. Additionally, he draws inspiration from the owners of the restaurant where he worked, who played a significant role in shaping his journey as an artist.
For Prashant, creating art is a source of mental peace. He believes that working independently and having the freedom to express himself artistically is one of the greatest forms of peace in today’s world. Outside of art, he enjoys singing and playing badminton.
His life mantra is, "Give us your picture; we give you a smile," reflecting his belief in the power of caricature to bring happiness.
To aspiring artists, Sinha offers this advice: Art is a beautiful profession that offers the freedom to work on one's own terms. However, to succeed, artists must give their full effort and maintain confidence in their skills.
Lastly, Prashant Sinha emphasises the importance of personal connection with clients, ensuring he is always in touch with them to deliver the best results. He encourages anyone interested to reach out through his website, www.prashantarts.com.
