A chartered accountant venturing into the field of software development is a story that will inspire many stuck in a place they don’t want to be in. Prashant Gupta ditched a ‘settled’ job to ‘settle down’ with his passion.

Prashant Gupta is a chartered accountant running his own tech-based company.

Prashant says that he has worked in companies like General Electric, ICICI Bank, and Genpact to name a few, and has an experience of ten years in the field of finance and accounting. In 2013, he started his own software company focused on web, software, and product development.

Prashant says that the turning point in his life was realizing his true calling. He was working in a well-paying job, leading a team of fifteen people and handling big accounts. However, he soon realized that he was unable to spare any  time for his family or recreational activities. It was then that he started saving, paid all his loans, and got rid of all the liabilities to start with his new venture.

Talking about his struggles, Prashant says that the initial struggle was with funds and managing them. He had to struggle with payrolls and getting new clients. Also, finding the right people for his company was also a challenge for him as he had no prior experience in hiring people.

Sharing his COVID-19 experience, Prashant says that his company launched its first product, a payroll management software, in 2019 and COVID came in March 2020. No business was making investments in buying such software at that time. Prashant says that the good thing was that they got to refine their product and add new verticals to it.

Prashant feels that education helps in teaching one a lot of things like interacting with people and facing the world. He adds that experience, on the other hand, teaches you to handle people and in learning more about human behavior.

Talking about his role models, Prashant says that Elon Musk is the one presently. His vision for the future and his humanity inspires Prashant a lot. Earlier, he also used to admire Bill Gates for his work in the field of technology and his philanthropy activities motivated him a lot.

If given a Time Machine, Prashant would like to go back to his college days and think deeper about what he would like to pursue in the future.

Prashant advises the youth to overcome their self-doubts, build new skills and abilities, and understand the customer’s needs and incorporate the same in the products they build. He also advises them to look for a team that both inspires and aspires to grow.

In his free time, Prashant loves to learn more about the tech field and read books.
