Prapti Choudhary is a fifteen year old from Punjab. She is a motivational TEDx speaker. She is also an environmental activist.
Prapti shares that she was born underweight and under-mature and no one was sure whether she would be able to survive or not.
When she was just ten days old, she suffered from high fever and jaundice. At three years of age, she was diagnosed with chronic bronchitis. She used to get asthma attacks at school and climbing a simple staircase used to be a big task for her.
Prapti says that the biggest setback in her life was at the age of nine when she was diagnosed with Celiac disease and was declared allergic to wheat and gluten.
Everything in her life changed. At this point, she had to make the tough decision between remaining hopeless or standing up and fighting for herself.
She couldn’t play sports at all but slowly started getting out of her home and she started taking small steps. This resulted in great improvement and there came a time when she started playing Table Tennis for straight five hours. Doctors had advised her not to swim due to the chlorine in the water, but with her determination, she learned to swim and even won competitions and medals in it. She has also played district-level Basketball and Table Tennis.
Prapti feels that it is all because of the dedication, support, and motivation of her parents that she has been able to achieve things in her life.
Talking about the COVID time, Prapti says that she was sent to her village in Punjab as it was a crucial time for her. Her mother worked at the hospital and Prapti could not afford to get infected because of her extremely weak lungs. She managed her food and other requirements all by herself in the village.
However, Prapti did return back to Delhi as living away from her mother for six months was becoming tough for her. And this was the time when she and her father got the COVID disease. Prapti shares that it was the worst time for her as she felt like a dead body. For straight fourteen days, she had to face high fever and related complications. With grit and self-belief, Prapti overcame that tough time as well.
In her free time, she likes to dance, sketch and play sports.
