A teacher should have vision, knowledge, and creativity.
Dr. Pradeep Kumawat is the Director of Alok Institutions, a social leader, and an independent director at Railway Energy Management, a Government of India enterprise. He comes from old Udaipur, where he had a happy childhood with his friends, playing cricket and swimming in lakes. He says they lived in a small house but had big hearts.
Dr. Kumawat started his career early, right after high school. He wanted to attend college, but his father asked him to work at his father’s school and join the evening college. He worked as a PTI, then as a primary and higher classes teacher, then as a hostel warden and administrator. He says people see his lavish lifestyle now, but they don’t know the struggle behind it. He says achieving this position took him 25 years of hard work.
Dr. Pradeep believes that a teacher should have vision, knowledge, and creativity. He says a teacher should be respected by students not only for his personality but also for his vast knowledge of every sphere of life. He says a teacher should have life skills and subject knowledge. He says one has to face many challenges in life to be a complete individual and a guide to the future generation. He says one should encourage and motivate students to be intrepid and innovative in their careers.
Dr. Pradeep values education highly. He says he used to think that Ph.D. holders were just degree holders, but then he realized that a Ph.D. gives one an attitude of research in life. He thinks experience complements education. He thinks one learns from mistakes, and making mistakes is an important aspect of life.
Dr. Pradeep loves music and listens to it almost all the time. He likes cycling, drone photography, men’s fashion, and writing books. He wrote a book on his mistakes and another book on his father, an educator who revolutionized the education sector in Rajasthan. He is also a laughter guru and conducts laughter sessions for the public. He has a deep belief in God and prays daily. He believes that life is meant to be enjoyed spiritually and physically.
If Dr. Kumawat could go back in time and change something, he would like to become a girl and see life from a girl’s perspective. He would also like to relive his mischievous childhood days.
Dr. Kumawat thinks he was a born leader inspired by his father. He has made his mark in society. He likes to read biographies of leaders and influential personalities and learn from their positive qualities.
Dr. Pradeep’s role model is his father, who started Alok School in a single room when they were poor. The school has now grown into an empire of several schools across Udaipur, Rajsamand, and Chittorgarh. Pradeep admires his father’s perseverance, determination, and humility. Dr. Pradeep is also inspired by Swami Vivekananda.
Dr. Kumawat's message is that one should always dream, big or small. One should live life with fun and never let the child inside die.
