Pradeep never thought of being in the hotel industry, but had to make a choice to gain financial stability.

Born and brought up in Jodhpur, Pradeep Singh Gehlot is the owner of Hotel Yorkshire Inn, Udaipur. He completed his BA in Hotel Management and has a good experience in the hotel and hospitality industry. He did a six-month training in Lake Palace, Udaipur, after which he got a job in Jodhpur. Pradeep has three years of experience in Chunda Palace after which he switched to a hospitality firm having three hotels at Ranakpur, Kumbhalgarh and Udaipur. Meanwhile, he also got a job in Ahmedabad, however, he looked for jobs in Rajasthan owing to cultural differences. Thereafter, he also worked as a Resort Manager in Barmer.

Pradeep shares that hotel management was never his passion. But, when his father had to undergo a bypass surgery, they faced financial issues owing to which he had to contribute to his family business of agriculture with his uncle. Slowly it led to family disputes, and he thought of doing some practical courses to get a good job opportunity. Hence, the idea of hotel management came in. Today Pradeep is handling almost fourteen hotels on a management basis.

Pradeep has been associated with consultancy and menu designing of hotels and feels a sense of achievement when people refer to him for his good work. Though the hotel industry seems glamorous, Pradeep urges the youth to exercise patience since one cannot expect fast increments in this field. He encourages youth to be an entrepreneur rather than an employee. On leadership, he says that it is important to meet the client’s expectations by working in collaboration with different departments to emerge as a true leader in the hotel management industry.

Discussing COVID, Pradeep believes that it was a good time to refresh oneself and spend time with your family. Post lockdown, he started a villa and also got good business from Gujarat. Pradeep is inspired by his ex-managers for their efficiency and giving him a chance to work in different cities.

His success mantra is to work honestly and along with the team members rather than working alone.
