Prachi is a Chartered Accountant by profession, besides being a Managing Director at INIFD, Udaipur. She has helped shape this institute into a prominent one by making people aware of the scope of Designing in innovative ways.

Prachi Mehta is currently working as a Managing Director at INIFD, Udaipur. Besides her association with INIFD for the last six years, she is also a partner in Surpass Industrial Training Institute and ISID Structures with her husband. In both these firms, she looks after the overall Management and the Finance Department.

Prachi hails from Udaipur. She did her schooling from The Study School and did her B.Com from MLSU. Then she pursued CA. As CA results are unpredictable, she joined INIFD in 2016 on getting an offer from there, as soon as she gave her CA Final exams without waiting for the results. She was enjoying working there as she got a lot to learn from events and other management arrangements. Her result came out soon and she passed the CA finals. That was a turning point of her life because she had to decide whether to stick with INIFD or take her career towards becoming a CA and start working with big corporate houses. But she chose to work with INIFD and make it a prominent institute moving ahead. Gradually she started stepping into diversified sectors and eventually started Surpass and ISID, in partnership with her husband.

Prachi shares that one of the fondest and beautiful memories of her childhood are when she used to go to her grandparents’ house during summer vacations and had many fun-filled days.

When asked about the challenges she has faced, Prachi says that while working in INIFD, she faced a lot of trouble building the brand image of the institute. Because initially, parents didn’t let their children come into the field of Fashion Designing as they felt that there is no scope in it and a career cannot be made out of it. Other than that, the biggest challenge that she faced was, being an entrepreneur, her vision was not aligning with those of her team members and staff due to which they were not able to work in coordination. But she tried to overcome those challenges by understanding the mentality of her colleagues and working along with them.

Prachi feels that she is a born leader because she possesses leadership qualities since childhood. She says that it has always been her when it comes to initiate, lead or plan something and people just follow her lead. She thinks that to be a good leader, you should never be a dictator, rather you should take along your team to achieve the desired goals.

Talking about achievements, Prachi says that becoming a CA is the biggest achievement for her. Second, being promoted to the post of Managing Director in INIFD is no less than an achievement for her. Apart from this, the satisfaction of her parents with her and her organisation’s work and her students getting placed in good organisations is a big deal for her. Also, her Udaipur centre was awarded by Actor Twinkle Khanna for making its place amongst the Top Ten centres out of one-eighty centres across the country. At the local level, her institute has won the ‘Udaipur Education Award’ in 2018 and ‘The Times Achievers Award’ in 2019. Other than this, she also received the ‘I AM She Award’ and ‘Super Hundred Woman Award.’

Prachi says that during the Covid pandemic, they had to face a lot of problems as they had to shift their entire education system from offline classes to online platforms. The faculties were also not so equipped with technology that they could work with the same efficiency on online platforms. Apart from this, she says that Designing is such a field that demands face-to-face classes to master it. But they managed to cope with the situations and worked well. On a personal front, she felt confined when she could not go out as she is a social person and loves to spend time with her friends.

In her spare time, Prachi likes to spend time with her husband and her pet. Apart from this, she loves to dance, due to which she has learned many dance forms too. She loves to travel, doing adventures and socialising too.

If Prachi gets a chance to go back in time, she would like to go back to her childhood and relive it with her grandparents. Besides that, she would not opt for CA as it was never her interest. Also, she would like to go back to the time when she was eighteen years old and create a dream space to live with many different breeds of dogs for being a typical dog lover.

Prachi advises anyone who wants to come into the field of designing to be creative, learn to create your own opportunities to grow in this field, mellow down and set aside your ego, before coming in, if you do something wrong, learn to apologise for it and try to build a network for it’s the key to achieve success.

According to Prachi, Experience matters more than Education because whatever things you learn in life, you learn them from experiences only.
