Poonam Saxena is a TGT-Science teacher at Central Public School, Udaipur. She has been teaching at CPS for the past five years.
Poonam was born and raised in Jaipur. Her entire school education was completed in Jaipur. She completed her graduation and post-graduation in biotechnology. She moved to Udaipur due to her husband’s transferable job.
Poonam remembers going to school with her mother and spending time outdoors with her, participating in picnics and other activities. She still occasionally longs for the natural picnic spots that she used to go to with her mother's school staff and students.
Speaking about her COVID experience, Poonam says the pandemic time was really difficult for everyone across the world. She wishes nobody would ever see and experience this pandemic again in life. However, she says the lockdown made everyone come closer to their families. Additionally, she appreciates the chairperson of CPS, Ms. Alka Sharma, for her phenomenal efforts and vision in promptly adapting the online mode of teaching to meet the demands of the pandemic situation.
When asked about her role models in life, Poonam mentions her mother, who was also a teacher for 35 years, as her role model. She says she was inspired to be a teacher only because of her mother. Additionally, she also considers one of her former faculty members as a role model, who was very encouraging and supportive to the students during her post-graduation.
In her spare time, Poonam enjoys listening to the old melodies of Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary singer of Bollywood. She is also passionate about singing and dancing, so whenever she gets free time, she likes to hum to her favorite songs.
Poonam says, if she could get a Time Machine to travel back in time, she would relive her college days when she was pursuing her post-graduation.
Poonam advises the youth to pursue their passions with all their hearts in order to succeed. She urges students not to get distracted by the evil glare of the world and just focus on their goals.
Poonam says her success mantra is to live life to the fullest. She says grieving for what we have lost is pointless; we must focus on and appreciate what we have.
