Poonam’s life journey features a transition from a mere traditional housewife to a successful businesswoman with her firm convictions, boundless ideas and positive attitude.

Dr Poonam Madan is an Educationist, an Entrepreneur and a Social Influencer. She is the Founder of Pristine Global Healthcare, Jaipur and stands tall with all her achievements and qualifications today.

Her journey of becoming an Entrepreneur started in 2008 when she entered the pharmaceutical business marketing her products primarily in rural areas. Her mission is to provide affordable medicines to people especially in rural areas where there is a dearth of healthcare facilities.

Poonam was born in a middle-class family and her father is a Bank Manager. She got married at a very early age of eighteen, but at the same time, she was academically inclined and wanted to pursue her higher education. So she continued her education even after marriage with full support from her in-laws. By her graduation time, she became a mother of two kids and was happy with her family life. While her kids were in school, Poonam restarted her education with an MBA and thereafter pursued her PhD. She is a Doctorate today in Management Education. After investing years in her education, Poonam had the zeal to transfer her knowledge for generations to come, so she started teaching virtually in MBA institutes.

Currently, Poonam is associated with the IIS University as the Head of the Department for Advertising and Brand Management and possesses 20 years of experience in teaching Management students. She adds that to date nine Research Scholars have completed their doctorate under her supervision. Poonam has written 50 research papers and a book on ‘Business Communication.’ She has also been awarded for her research initiatives for three consecutive years.

Poonam is also associated with various social organisations and professional forums like FICCI FLO, Forti Women Wing and is also a member of the CII Indian Women Network. She is also working as a Director in a  Rotary Club. She has taken many social initiatives through Forti during the pandemic including creating a support system for covid widowers and sufferers by upskilling them and providing them jobs. Poonam also helped run oxygen ambulances and ran a COVID health centre free of charge.

Poonam mentions that with FICCI FLO, she has helped train many girls in candle making and Spoken English through online training in which technology posed a challenge. Not only this, she is also on a mission to plant 10 thousand plants along with her friend in which organisations like Rotary, Forti and Lions Club are supporting her.

Poonam believes that being passionate makes all the difference. She adds that a journey may be difficult but it cannot be impossible to achieve. She feels that as a woman one has responsibilities at various fronts and has to let go of her comfort zone many times.

Poonam suggests everyone to give back to society through public welfare and community development initiatives. She says that destiny supports you only when you work hard for it to happen.

Poonam says that the essence of Leadership is followership and one becomes a leader only when a team stands with you. From being a team leader to being a leader of various forums, Poonam says that a leader not just thinks about herself but her team as a whole. She feels that a leader should always lead by an example.

Poonam is in an organisation of young girls who wish to carve their own niche and she feels energetic being with them. For her, Education is primary and her core values are learning and experience and she considers it as a stepping stone to success. She suggests the youth grab their qualifications first and introduces them to different schools of life : Life School, Business School and Family School. She says that business school is close to her heart which has helped her in people orientation skills and building her analytical abilities. Regarding Life School, Poonam says that life has its own way to teach you through experiences, some have it on the platter while others have to struggle. On Family School, she says that it is the family who introduces us to values and ethics and helps build our character. Poonam feels that Experience brings with it modesty and expands horizons of the mind.

Poonam says that success needs to be planned and created, and it is attained by the series of steps one undergoes in life. To become successful,  one needs to visualise and define their own definition of success. She believes in the saying “Those who dream the most, do the most” and adds that one has to first dream big and set objectives which would take them closer to their success. Poonam stresses on Execution and Implementation of tasks to bring your dreams into reality and be truly successful. She says that one should not just live for themselves but people as well.

As a message for the youth, Poonam says that today’s generation should know for a fact that all successful people have a story of hard work, passion, perseverance, patience and dedication behind them and that no one gets success overnight. She adds that the youth should first have a clarity of thought and then stay focused and determined to achieve them. To wind up, Poonam says that one should never go for shortcuts, but rather apply the longest route in life to achieve a concrete and long-lived success.
