Pooja moved from her studies in commerce to a rewarding career in teaching after discovering her purpose in education and enjoying the company of young learners.

Pooja Sharma teaches at Bikaner's Incredible Heights School, which she joined 4 months ago. Earlier, she was a teacher with Delhi Public School.

Pooja chose to major in commerce after finishing her schooling, but she was uncertain about what she wanted from life. People advised her to pursue an MBA, CS, or CA. She would agree to any suggestions because she was so confused. She also enrolled in a Digital Marketing course. However, she always felt unhappy in these fields and thought something was missing. She eventually decided to pursue teaching after realizing she enjoyed it. It was a major change in her professional life. She professes that she loves being among kids.

Pooja says she was a mischievous child when she was in school. She performed average in school, but she participated and performed excellently in many extracurricular activities, such as dancing, singing, chess and sketching. She finished her 12th grade in Kolkata's Balika Shiksha Sadan. She does acknowledge, though, that she has struggled to get over her stage anxiety throughout her entire life.

When Pooja was in the twelfth grade, her father passed away, bringing sadness into her life. Although she was very close to her father, she was away in Kolkata at his final moments, therefore she was unable to see him in his last moments. She still regrets this.

Pooja tells us that her father, who was a very driven and passionate man, is her source of inspiration. Pooja's father's encouragement was a major factor that her life has been relatively smooth till now.

Pooja admits COVID affected her life in both positive and negative ways. Her more intimate connection with her family was a positive development. She spent a lot of time by herself. She picked up a lot of new skills, like cooking. She enjoyed the spare time by playing Ludo with her family. On the flip side, Pooja had to leave her teaching job at DPS which was sad for her.

Pooja believes that experience and education go hand in hand. She believes that everyone should have access to education. However, she also believes that experience is valuable and teaches you a lot of lessons.

Two things Pooja enjoys doing in her free time are drawing and reading. She likes to write down her thoughts. She recently started taking guitar lessons and is really passionate about music.

Pooja would prefer to return to her school days when she was in the eleventh and twelfth grades, if she had the ability to travel back in time in a time machine. She claims that she had a great time throughout those days with her friends.

"Grow and let others grow too" is her advice to those who are new in the field of teaching. She believes you should have an optimistic outlook. She quotes Ratan Tata as saying, "Iron can only be destroyed by its own rust."

Pooja's secret to success is "Don't think too much before making a decision". Life is about making continuous attempts. Time is valuable, so it is crucial that you stop misusing it. She ends by suggesting to make a decision first,  and then working on it to make it the right one.
