A VDO, Piyush faced many ups and downs in his life but didn’t give up and fulfilled all his responsibilities by doing hard work. He believes that the opinions of others should not affect your mindset.

Piyush Patel is a Village Development Officer serving under  the Government of Rajasthan in Banswara.

Piyush hails from Banswara. He completed his eleventh and twelfth grades with Maths and Science. Then he graduated in the Arts. Afterwards, he passed the government exams and got selected for the post of Patwari. After giving his services for a few months, he got selected for the post of Village Development Officer and is currently working on this post.

Recalling his childhood, Piyush says that he was fond of playing cricket, and his first dream was to become a cricketer. But due to some circumstances, he had to join government service. He used to watch every cricket match.

Talking about his journey, Piyush says that he had wanted to become a cricketer since childhood, but after the sad demise of his father, he had to quit that dream, as he was not economically sound at that time and had limited resources. He had to fulfil his responsibilities towards his family, so he took the hard decision to leave his dream. Then he joined a private job along with his studies to earn his livelihood and support his family. Afterwards, he cleared the government exam and joined the post of Patwari.

Sharing his experiences, Piyush says that he learned a lot in this field about connecting the common people with the important schemes of the government and providing benefits to them.

Talking about his struggles, Piyush says that he faced many hardships in his career as he lost his father early and had to fulfil the responsibilities of his family. He also had to drop his plan to become a cricketer. He also faced financial and emotional issues after losing his father. At the age of eighteen, he had to manage both work and studies. It was very tough for him to handle the situation.

Sharing his achievements, Piyush says that he always gave his best to every job and got appreciation for that. He also represented his district in cricket. He also won the Man Of The Match award in local tournaments. His biggest accomplishment is fulfilling his responsibilities towards his family.

Piyush’s role model is Joga Ram, who prepared and got selected for the IAS while working on the post of Gram Sevak. He inspired him a lot. He also considers his parents his role models, as they struggled and sacrificed a lot to give him a better life. They always supported and motivated him, and he learned a lot from them.

The quote that inspires him a lot is "There are two types of pain you will go through in life: the pain of discipline and the pain of regret." You have to decide which pain you want in your life.

Piyush advises the youth to be focused on their preparation for government exams and not take on too much burden. It is important to do hard work with full dedication. Give your best and have faith in yourself.

Accepting his mistakes, Piyush says that he made many mistakes due to a lack of confidence and self-doubt. He judged himself and his abilities by comparing them with others, which was his biggest mistake. He also uselessly heeded to the opinions of others.

Sharing his COVID experience, Piyush says that it was a very difficult time for him and his family as he lost his job and faced financial problems. But he  learned to accept the situation. He started preparing for the government exam and got the job.

Comparing education and experience, Piyush says that the combination of both smooths the path in life. Work experience is very important for success.

In his spare time, Piyush likes to read books and watch web series.

If given a time machine to travel back in time, Piyush would put more focus on his career earlier than he did after completing his graduation.

Piyush’s future plan is to crack the RAS exam and get the post of SDM which he believes he deserves.
