Payal Sanadhya is a teacher by profession teaching Science and Maths. Currently working at St. Mary’s Convent Senior Secondary School, she has also taught in Rockwoods School and MDS. Born in Nathdwara, her family migrated to Udaipur and she completed her schooling at St. Mary’s School. Payal graduated from the Pacific Institute of Technology and did her Bachelor in Education at SNDT University, Mumbai. She has been in the teaching field for seven years now.
Payal started her career at a coaching institute teaching Science and Maths to 9th and 10th standard students. From here she got the motivation to get into the teaching field and joined MDS School. Besides bookish knowledge, having experience with students made her learn things and explain different phenomena that we see in everyday life. She believes that if students take interest in studies, ideas get incorporated which may lead to new findings in the future. Payal considers teaching as the best profession since it inspires her to keep herself motivated throughout.
She considers her childhood full of joy and physical activities in contrast to today’s generation who spend their vacation doing assignments or devoting their time to extracurricular activities. Payal feels that students these days are compromising on their immunity by ignoring physical activities.
Discussing hardships, Payal shares that the pandemic period was like a family vacation to her. However, on the professional front, she says that resorting to online teaching was not easy, especially for senior teachers who are not used to it. Moreover, she feels that students can concentrate more in school as compared to online classes which also involve harmful radiation from computer screens. Payal also mentions that it must have been a difficult deal for parents to arrange two devices at home for their children.
For aspiring teachers, Payal says that one should complete graduation and pursue a Bachelor in Education. However, if one wishes to be a government teacher, then they can prepare for exams doing a part-time job parallelly. To excel in the teaching profession, Payal believes that one’s communication skills and knowledge of the subject are a must. She says it is important to keep your students physically and mentally alert in the class and be social with them and the staff members.
On leadership qualities, Payal says that these are inbuilt in your nature and one needs to identify them. She feels that she has imbibed the leadership qualities in her by dealing with a variety of students and learning through her life experiences. Payal feels balancing personal and professional life is an achievement for every woman including her.
