Parvathi, a Kathakali artist, has been dancing since she was a child and has overcome every obstacle in her life. She has 45 years of experience in this field and believes in the power of self-belief.

Parvathi U. Menon is a veteran Kathakali artist. She has been practising and performing  dance for the past 45 years.

Parvathi hails from Kochi, Kerala. She started learning dance at the age of five and began performing at the age of eight.

Recalling her childhood, Parvathi says that she had a lovely childhood with few challenges. She feels privileged to have such parents and teachers who have guided and encouraged her throughout her life and credits them for what she is today. She says her father encouraged her to pursue Kathakali. Her parents taught her to accept responsibilities in her life. She used to participate in all the extracurricular activities at her school and college. After completing her education, she got married.

Parvathy believes that everyone’s life is a mixture of happiness and sorrow, difficulties and challenges, but if we believe in ourselves, we can do anything.

When asked about her mistakes, Parvathy says that trusting people too quickly was one of them. However, she says that she still wants to be good to everyone, irrespective of what other people think of her.

Speaking about her accomplishments, Parvathi says that being a good daughter, a good wife, and a good mother is her biggest achievement.

When asked about her role models, Parvathi says that her mother has inspired her a lot.

In her spare time, Parvathy likes to listen to music and watch football. She is also fond of cooking.

In times of stress, Parvathi likes to give herself the time she needs to rethink and collect herself.

Parvathi’s life mantra is to help others, either financially or emotionally, and she advises everyone to keep loving, and love will come back to them.
