Palak Kayath is a theater activist and an actor. She has done a couple of short films and music videos in Udaipur, along with some theater productions. Palak has also played the role of an Assistant Director and has been in front of the camera for three years now.
Recalling her childhood, Palak says that she grew up as a dancer and has been doing shows all over India since she was six. She is particularly into Rajasthani folk dance. Palak spent her school and college days participating in co-curricular activities.
Palak studied from Kendriya Vidyalaya before graduating from BN College with a degree in commerce.Thereafter, she did her Master in Human Resource Management from MLSU. After completing her studies, Palak worked in corporate companies for three years only to realize that she would like to live the life of an artist all her life. Realizing this, she quit her job and became a full-time dancer and an artist.
Speaking about her challenges, Palak says that the life of an artist comes with uncertainty and no fixed source of income. She adds that many times it depends on the availability of projects.
Discussing COVID, Palak mentions that living in a restricted environment was not her cup of tea. She adds that staying at home, she was not inspired to do anything creative and craved an open and free environment to meet and interact with people. Palak says that her film projects came to a standstill due to the pandemic, which impacted her professional life.
Talking about her achievements, Palak says she won the best actress award for the film "1869 – When India Faced the Worst."
Palak advises the young to give their whole heart and energy into doing things and not give up when success could be just around the corner. She suggests they analyze themselves, stay patient, and get inspired rather than influenced.
When asked about her thoughts on education vs. experience, Palak values experience more as she thinks experience teaches you how to deal with people and work smart. She adds that education coupled with knowledge is a perfect combination that would benefit all.
In her free time, Palak likes to listen to stories of successful people in the film industry. She values simplicity and looks for learning outcomes in artists’ practice sessions.
