Recalling her childhood, Padma says she grew up in a middle-class family. From the beginning, she had been interested in dance and her teachers at school always encouraged her to follow her passion for dance and even persuaded her parents to let her dance. She received her formal training in Indian classical dances under the able guidance of her gurus. All in all, she had a joyous childhood, Padma says.

Describing challenges that she had to face in her life, Padma says hailing from a family with minimal means of survival, often she would have to face hiccups in her pursuit of dancing as her parents would not be able to pay her fees. However, she acknowledges that she always received a helping hand whenever she faced any difficulty and thus could pursue her endeavors.

Padma thinks that if you help a needy child then the child will give back manifold in return to society later. She says that at her dance academy, she gives free dance training to children who can’t afford to pay for her fees.

Talking about her achievements, Padma says that as a dance instructor, being able to bring about a positive change in people’s lives is her biggest accomplishment. Besides, she has written lyrics for many songs of Kannada movies and has also worked as an associate director for them.

When asked about her role models, Padma says that her father is her first and foremost role model. She says that her father was poor economically but rich in ethics and that’s what inspires her the most about her father. Besides, her senior, who is the reason she is a motivational speaker today, is also her role model. Furthermore, her dance gurus, her daughter, and her husband are also her role models.

Padma shares that she is also a voice-over artist and to budding voice-over artists, she advises them to empathize with the character to which they give their voice as she thinks that a voice-over artist gives the soul to a character.

To aspiring classical dancers, Padma advises them that practice is the key to perfection. Besides, she advises them to remain patient and hard-working in their pursuit of dancing. Furthermore, she advises them to have faith in their gurus and surrender themselves wholly unto them to learn dance.

To youngsters, Padma advises them to keep exploring until they find where their passion truly lies and then pursue it devoutly.

In her spare time, Padma likes to watch movies to add to her learning so that it can help her in professional pursuits too.
