Om Prakash Prajapat is a Supervisor at the Jhamarkotra RSMM Mines in Udaipur.
Om Prakash is a resident of Debari in Udaipur. Due to various familial and financial issues, he dropped out of school after finishing the eleventh grade. He then became a driver at the mines. He developed expertise in this area slowly but steadily, constantly striving for a higher position. He works as a supervisor right now. Together with his group, he has been attempting to boost the output at the mines. In addition, he handles all safety precautions. Mining work includes drilling, blasting and dispatching through various equipment like shower machine, grader, loader, etc.
Om looks up to Bhanu Prakash Sharma, his mining mentor, who has always inspired and supported him as a role model. Bhanu taught him a great deal about mining. He believes that a person can learn in three ways such as by observing others, by learning themselves or by learning from mistakes.
Speaking about his difficulties, Om Prakash states that he went through difficult periods when he had to give up his education in order to work and support his family. He began by operating his own real estate company and selling old vehicles. Along with his relative, he was in a partnership firm, but his partner deceived him. Nevertheless, he chose to restart from scratch and persisted. He believes that to learn something new every moment, one has to leave the old things and take a new direction with hard work, dedication and truthfulness.
Mining, according to Om, is a fairly broad sector. After finishing the tenth grade, students might pursue a diploma programme to enter this industry. This industry offers a wide range of possibilities, including survey departments, geological departments, and foreman departments. He shares that mechanical is also an important part of mining. One can become a mechanical engineer after completing tenth grade and having a diploma in it.
Om asserts that experience and education are comparable in importance. Mining requires a minimum education up until the tenth grade, after which experience can be gained.
He gives the younger generation advice on how to understand their obligations to our country and society. Always strike out on your own before assisting others. Thus, self-motivation and self-starting are necessary. He appeals to each and every one of you to value education and to be mindful of safety and security in your field of work.
