Nupur Biswas is a certified yoga instructor. She teaches yoga to people of all age groups worldwide. Before pursuing yoga as a full-time career, she also had a long career in the media industry.
Nupur hails from Mumbai. Her journey with fitness started when she was in school. The stress of upcoming exams and studies had resulted in her putting on a lot of weight and mental stress. So once she got out of school, she started regular exercise; gradually, this hobby became a habit.
Nupur says that she liked working out but had always considered yoga as something that was solely meant for senior citizens. However, once she went for her regular kickboxing practice, she came to know that her class had been canceled, so she sat there and watched others do yoga. That’s when her teacher told her to participate once for a change. Nupur participated in one session, and she was mesmerized by the idea of yoga, as she had not only enjoyed it but also felt an inner satisfaction. Gradually, Nupur got more and more addicted to yoga and started practicing it every day.
While yoga and fitness are her hobbies, professionally, she was in the media industry. She had been in the media industry for about ten years and enjoyed working with a news channel called Times Now. However, she eventually decided to do yoga professionally, as her interest and proficiency in yoga only grew. There were times when she would take yoga classes in the absence of her instructor.
Initially, though, she was quite hesitant and skeptical of changing her field of work entirely. But with the support and motivation of her friends and family, Nupur quit her job after ten fulfilling years in the media industry and became a full-time yoga instructor. This decision proved to be good for her; she is enjoying her profession and has finally found what she wanted to do in life.
Nupur says that the only mistake she has ever made was being indecisive while switching careers. She thinks she should have done it earlier.
Nupur believes in following her heart and also suggests everyone else do the same. She also says that being patient and consistently working towards your goals will definitely help you succeed.
Nupur says that she is happy that, due to the pandemic, people are finally following a healthy lifestyle and focusing on their mental health too. It pleases her that now more and more people from all age groups are participating in yoga. She also says that now that everything has become online, it is easier for her to connect with a large number of people through her social media platforms.
To budding yoga trainers or youth in general, Nupur says that first they should be passionate about what they want to do in life, and it should not feel like a burden to them. Secondly, she recommends gaining proper knowledge about their respective fields. Lastly, she says that the most important thing is practicing consistently. To yoga trainers especially, she says that theory and practice are both equally important.
Nupur advises everyone to follow a fitness regime, be it yoga, cardio, dance, meditation, or anything. She says that whatever you do, please make sure to include yoga or meditation into that to grow your mental strength along with your physical strength.
In her free time, Nupur likes to conduct free yoga workshops, paint, watch movies, and spend quality time with her family.
