An Assam native, Nitul Das is a Martial Arts Trainer currently based in Gurugram. He is the founder and director of Taedas Academy where he trains students in martial arts for the Olympics.

Influenced by the Bollywood film ‘Jigar’ Nitul decided to pursue martial arts when he was just ten years old. In the year 2000, he enrolled in a Taekwondo class and soon represented Assam at national level competitions. Some time later, he moved to Delhi, where he joined the Delhi squad and practised at an academy in Malviya Nagar. He later began teaching Taekwondo. He has competed internationally and has a Black Belt in Taekwondo.

His goal is to inspire everyone and impart self-defence skills to them. He also hopes to encourage people to maintain their fitness. He thinks that being physically well gives you strength and confidence. In his role as a social worker, he also trains girls in martial arts at schools and NGOs.

According to Nitul, martial arts encompass a variety of disciplines, including Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Boxing, Judo, Karate, and even WWE. In the Olympic sport of Taekwondo, 80% of the moves are done with the legs and 20% with the hands. In Judo, it is our goal to bring our opponent down. Boxing, on the other hand, uses only hand motions. Nitul explains that Martial arts is a self-defence and fitness-enhancing sport.  However, learners of martial arts are also able to improve their concentration.

When asked about his role models, Nitul responds by saying that Ratan Tata is his hero and he felt motivated by Tata to take up a cause for the nation.

Regarding struggles, Nitul explains that he comes from a middle-class household and had to put in a lot of effort to earn his Taekwondo Black Belt. In Delhi, he used to make a livelihood by teaching in schools. He was content, though, because he was also picking up knowledge from many cultures and people. He thinks that despite hardships, life is full of lessons that we can always learn. It is vital to acquire information in order to take action in life.

Teaching and learning are the two things he enjoys the most. When he instructs pupils and they get knowledge from him, it makes him happy every time since it's a personal accomplishment. His goals are to establish his own team and promote martial arts throughout India.

Nitul believes that just as comprehension is necessary for any endeavour, information is crucial for success. He takes pleasure in passing his experience to his students making sure they succeed. Additionally, he thinks that supporting the country may come from many walks of life and is not limited to enlisting in the army.

He concedes that if he ever had the opportunity to travel back in time via a time machine, he would do things differently.

Speaking on his COVID experience, Nitul adds that the epidemic showed us that it's important to stay up to date with technology and the changing world, and that people shouldn't rely on others. He said that the pandemic also gave consumers access to online courses and opened up possibilities for technology adoption. Through online lessons, he was able to instruct martial arts students from many nations.

When free, Nitul enjoys travelling with friends, dancing, and partying.
