Nitisha Nanda is a fusion artist and professional classical dancer. She has been in this field for the past twenty-eight years. She practices Odissi dance and Belly dance as well. She is also a wedding planner and also runs an NGO with her mother.
Recalling her childhood memories, Nitisha says that since her mother was a dancer herself, she had grown up in an environment of art and dance. She and her siblings were doing some sort of art or dance class all day long. She used to manage all these classes along with her studies, so multitasking is not something new to her.
Speaking about her achievements, Nitisha proudly says that she has received the Karamveer Puraskar for citizen action and social justice in recognition of her contribution to the fields of arts and culture.
When asked about her role models, Nitisha says that she considers her parents as her role models. She says that her parents have always given her such an upbringing where learning art and dance was, in a way, part of their life development process. She also considers her dance gurus, school teachers, and college professors as her mentors, who have supported her and her dance a lot.
When asked about the mistakes she made in life, Nitisha says that she wants to look back at things in life as lessons rather than seeing them as mistakes. She feels that she has been very fortunate that she got a chance to do what she wanted. She has not yet regretted any of her actions, nor does she feel that she has made any mistakes; it is all an experience for her.
In her free time, Nitisha loves to travel.
Nitisha’s favorite quote is “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." She believes that your audience will return what you give them, so spread love, and the rest will be taken care of by the almighty.
Nitisha advises young dancers to first be grateful to everyone. This should be the first thing a classical dancer should learn. She says that in the dance field, one must always follow dedication, devotion, and discipline.
