Nishant Rakesh Bhatt is an actor, director, and producer.

Nishant says he hails from Surat, Gujarat, and has been doing theater for the past seven years. Before that, he used to do monologues.

Recalling his childhood, Nishant says he completed all his education in the Gujarati medium. During his schooling, his mother used to encourage him to do acting, as he always used to get good marks in acting. His mother wanted him to pursue acting as a career and helped him learn scripts and acting methods. He first acted on stage in 2013, where he played the character of Macduff from the play Macbeth. Afterwards, his journey in theater began with a Best Style Actor award that he received for a small role. Later, with the help of his father, he came to Mumbai in 2016 and attended auditions.

Sharing about his journey, Nishant says he used to participate in a yearly programme at his society, where he improvised his acting during a play when he was five years old. His teacher told him that no one can teach you acting because it comes from observation. He participated in his first monologue competition with the help of his mother at the age of seven. Later, he started acting on a programme on the YouTube channel- Suraj.

Someone suggested to him that the famous actor Yazdi Karanjia provides free theater training to children. He joined his institute and learned acting from Mehernosh Karanjia. After three to four years, he joined Jyoti Vaidya’s group in Malhar, where he met Yash Upadhyay and started his own group with him in 2016. He focused on acting and teaching others to act, and his friend worked on getting permission from writers. He learned many things from the group.

In between, he visited Mumbai and auditioned for acting classes at Etka Kapoor’s acting institute. But, even after passing the audition, he did not join  it because he thought that there was no guarantee that he would get a long-term job after that. He also got offers for Gujarati movies, but they were old fashioned roles, and he wanted to do something new. Later, with the help of his father, he started producing, and he called his friend for support. He produced a  play in 2017 and put it on stage in 2018. Later, his cousin Utsav Bhatt joined his group and started handling all the technical work of the group. He started with the group BB Productions. After 13 years, he now himself visits Yazdi Karanjia’s camp to teach students.

Sharing his accomplishments, Nishant says he has been awarded as the Youngest Producer and Youngest Director of Surat. He has always been in the top three positions in every competition.

When asked about his role models, Nishant says his mother was his first inspiration.  Once, he forgot a dialogue on stage; however, he improvised, and all the people were applauding for him, but his mother slapped him because of that missed dialogue. She taught him the importance of remembering every dialogue on stage. He also considers Mehernosh Karanjia his role model, who taught him on-stage behavior and acting.  Mihir Pathak, is also his role model, as he was inspired by his acting in many plays. Furthermore, he looks up to his father, as he has always supported him. Along with that, his role model is Vaibhav Desai.

Advising the younger generation, Nishant says you should start your acting career from the bottom up and have knowledge of other works related to theater and cinema, such as lights, costumes, and other things. First, learn the work before stepping into the field professionally.
