A Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant, Nirmal Kumar Jain is the founder-promoter and chairman of the AKME Group of companies based in Udaipur. The group’s flagship company, AKME Fintrade India Ltd. was established in 1996, prior to which Nirmal worked as a practicing chartered accountant in Mumbai.
According to Nirmal, up to 1994-1995, it was not mandatory for any NBFC company to get a registration certificate from the RBI. This loophole led to the emergence of numerous fake companies that obtained registration from the Registrar of Companies (ROC) and deceived people by promising unrealistic returns, ultimately robbing many villagers and other people of their hard-earned money.
It was during this time that Nirmal, inspired by Acharya Kunthu Sagar, decided to establish AKME Fintrade. The AKME group aimed to assist the villagers by providing small loans to help villagers generate income and employment. They extended financial support to various individuals, including vegetable sellers, milkmen, and laborers, helping them expand their services beyond the villages and improve their earnings.
Reflecting on his childhood, Nirmal says that his schooling took place in Jhadol, a small village in Udaipur district. He says though he was a good student, he had a limited vision due to the lack of competition in his village.
When asked about his role models, Nirmal says he admires Acharya Kunthu Sagar who teaches the art of living contentedly with limited resources and emphasizes the importance of considering society's well-being. Additionally, he looks up to Amitabh Bachchan, learning from him the virtues of hard work and positivity even in adverse circumstances.
Nirmal shares that one of his notable achievements is leaving his job in Mumbai and relocating to Udaipur to start from scratch and establish a reputable name in society.
During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nirmal observed a decline in humanity, with people becoming increasingly selfish and greedy. However, he takes pride in the fact that the AKME group never lost sight of their humanity and assisted many individuals, even if their company's commitments were not fully met. Despite facing various challenges, the company managed to overcome them with the support and blessings of the people.
His advice to everyone is to not be overly concerned about others' opinions and to believe in yourself while doing good work. He encourages embracing every moment with happiness and to have a positive outlook. He firmly believes that there are no shortcuts to success.
As part of their growth plans, the AKME group intends to get their company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and come out with an IPO. This move aims to foster more significant connections and benefits for both the company and the people involved.
