Nikhil Raj is a Math Teacher at Aakash Institute in Patna.
Nikhil explains that his father worked as a daily wage worker, so when he was in the eighth grade, he began to provide home tuition as a way to support him and the family. He then made the decision to pursue a career in teaching after finishing his twelfth grade. His passion is teaching, and he is committed to it.
According to him, when he joined the ‘Beti Bachao Andolan’ in 2012, he was the sole student coordinator. Subsequently, he collaborated with World Comics India to address societal problems. In 2016, he received the ‘Youngest Rising Teacher Award’. In 2013, The Times of India featured him as a student master for his work educating underprivileged youngsters.
Regarding his early years, Nikhil recalls being quite mischievous and impatient. He shares an incident when he beat a boy with the stick due to his anger. He was forced to return to his parent's home because of his rage, even though he had previously lived with his maternal grandparents.
Nikhil's maternal grandfather serves as a role model for him since he always encouraged and supported him. He adheres to his beliefs and teachings. According to him, one must own responsibility; it cannot be bestowed onto someone else.
Speaking of his struggles, Nikhil states that he has had several difficulties since he was a little boy. His father had left the house when he was ten years old for unknown reasons. Both money and food were absent. He, his brother, and his mother all had a great deal of difficulty getting out of that predicament. In the past, he and his brother worked to support themselves and pay for their education. His brother distributed newspapers. After school, Nikhil also began working with his friend Manoj. He learned how to survive in the toughest circumstances from those days.
Nikhil acknowledges his mistakes and states that his biggest error was abandoning his goal to attend the Institute of Mathematics and Application (IOMA) in 2012 even after meeting the requirements. However, he doesn't regret it since, in retrospect, he believes that if he had gone there, he would have done it alone. Instead, he is sending numerous children there now.
He advises those aspiring to his career that teaching ought to be their first choice. Teaching is a profession that demands passion, devotion, and commitment. Being a good learner and listener is important. For a teacher to become knowledgeable, reading books is also essential. According to him, a teacher is someone who elevates you to the top, is forgiving, and covers up your flaws. It is crucial for teachers to comprehend their students' mindsets, and occasionally this requires hitting pupils’ ego in order to point them in the proper direction.
Nikhil asserts that experience is the true teacher of life, despite the fact that education may be useful in providing information. He thinks that your worst life experience will serve as your greatest life instructor.
He is an avid reader in his free time. In addition, he enjoys solving mathematical puzzles and is a passionate maths enthusiast.
