Neetu initially worked for a pharma company but later found her true calling in teaching science students and mentoring them along the way as a PhD supervisor.

Dr. Neetu Shorgar is an Associate Professor and Head of the Chemistry Department at Pacific University. She has been associated with the institute since 2009 and teaches B.Sc. and M.Sc. students along with being a PhD guide.

Neetu started her teaching career in 2008, teaching engineering students at Shreenath Institute of Technology and Engineering. Before entering the teaching profession, Neetu worked for a pharmaceutical company in Baroda for fifteen months.

Neetu completed her secondary education at Happy Home School, followed by her 12th at Guru Nanak Public School. Thereafter, Neetu completed her B.Sc. from Guru Nanak Girls School, followed by her M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the College of Science.

When asked about her role models, Neetu says she draws inspiration from her father, who never spoke of his struggles and always kept his children motivated.

Sharing her pandemic experience, Neetu talks about the pros and cons of online classes. She says that while online classes were beneficial to the students, practicals could not be held online.

If Neetu could go back in time through a time machine, she would prepare for the UGC NET exam, for which she could never get enough time during her educational journey.

Drawing a comparison between education and experience, Neetu says that education gives us the opportunity to work and, in turn, gain the required experience. She adds that both are equally important to succeed in life.

In her message to the youth, Neetu says she feels that they are devoid of practical exposure and should focus more on it. She says that science enthusiasts can look for careers in the government sector, in the teaching profession, and in pharma companies.
