Neelesh Kumar Gupta is the Director and Senior Consultant Physiotherapist at the Royal Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Center. He has been contributing his services in this field for the past twelve years.
Neelesh hails from a small village near Varanasi. He completed his schooling in his village and then in Varanasi. He says, unfortunately, he was not selected for MBBS but was selected for BDS. On the advice of his uncle, he decided to pursue a career in Physiotherapy because he was not interested in BDS. He received his bachelor's degree in physiotherapy from the Institute of Medical Sciences, Indore. He then moved to Mangalore to pursue a master's degree in physiotherapy.
Talking about the challenges he has faced, Neelesh says he had given up hope when his father suffered a sudden heart attack and underwent bypass surgery. But he was able to keep his composure and get through the trying time because of the support of his friends and family. He says in the early days of his career, for the first month after opening his physiotherapy clinic at the beginning of his profession, he had no patients, but he didn’t lose hope and kept patience. Now, after years of hard work and dedication, he has four centers in the city.
Sharing his COVID experience, Neelesh says his business suffered due to the pandemic as his whole profession depends on physical contact, and they had to take extra precautions in offering services. During the pandemic, he and his team provided assistance in medical emergencies, and he ensured that the entire team would not face any financial or other challenges.
When asked whether education or experience is more important, Neelesh says, "Whatever he achieved today is based on his education." He believes education is more important and that after receiving an education, a person needs experience to fully utilize that degree.
Neelesh considers his father and uncle as role models in his life who always encouraged him to do well in life and never give up.
If he could go back in time via a Time Machine, Neelesh says he would correct his mistakes and make sure to bring the entire family together.
Neelesh says today's youth are intelligent but are prone to numerous distractions. He thinks that they must avoid all distractions in order to succeed. He advises prospective physiotherapists not to give up until they achieve their goal and to be honest about their work.
