Neelam Chauhan belongs to Uttarakhand. She shifted to Delhi upon getting married.
Neelam recalls she spent the first five years of her childhood with her grandparents, after which she went back to her parents in Kotdwar to complete her education. However, she used to visit her grandparents every summer and also spend some time with her friends. Neelam was quite shy and introverted as a kid.
Talking about music, Neelam shares that her husband wanted to become a singer but couldn’t materialize his dream. This was when he found a hidden talent for music in Neelam and inspired her to learn it. Neelam then undertook a training in music for six years with the aim of releasing her own album for the people of her city. She started her journey singing in jagrans and then eventually started participating in events.
Discussing her challenges, Neelam shares that she met many people who put down her morale and advised her not to pursue music. But she took such feedback in good spirit and kept practicing music to prove them wrong. Her husband stood by her throughout her musical journey. It was not an easy journey for Neelam to make her name in the music industry, and her practise only kept her going.
When asked about her experience of the pandemic, Neelam says that it was a very negative phase for all of us. In order to keep her positive and utilize her free time, she practiced music and sang songs with her family. Neelam also got to know her husband and her daughter better.
Speaking about her achievements, Neelam shares that she has learnt from many people along the way and gained valuable experience. She was also called for an interview by DD National. Neelam’s mantra for success is to do smart work and stay positive, happy, and confident. She also believes in staying connected with the spiritual world.
Talking about her role models, Neelam says she draws her inspiration from the legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, and she grew up listening to their songs.
Neelam advises the youth not to listen to others and to believe in themselves enough to achieve what they aspire to become. She adds that one should not be afraid of competition and should follow people who have made a name for themselves in the said field.
Neelam is a spiritual person who has a great belief in God. So in her free time, she likes to chant, meditate, and listen to motivational videos by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Sandeep Maheshwari. Her hobbies include decorating her home and designing her own clothes.
