Nazima Kolyari is a Writer who resides in Udaipur, Rajasthan. She is also a Fashion Designer.
At the age of 40+, she is a combo of a perfect homemaker, a perfect wife, and a mother of two amazing children. In the time left after parenting and taking care of her family and children, she connects herself with her art and feels delighted.
Through her video, she shares her writing journey, hoping to inspire others to express their talent too. She believes that, if her story would motivate someone to pursue their passion, her journey will be a true success. She begins with a couplet:
"उस कागज का वस्फ़ ही क्या, जिस पर कलम न चले। फिर नज़रें देखें तो क्या देखें, गुज़रे ज़माने या आने वाला वक़्त।"
Nazima Kolyari formally began her writing journey in 2020. She always had a keen interest in reading ghazals and shayaris by writers like Gulzar. She used to read and note down these ghazals in her diary. Slowly, she started writing herself and received positive responses, appreciation, and encouragement. This built her confidence in writing.
She admits that she is not very expressive when speaking, but she becomes highly expressive through her writing. She finds it difficult to share her feelings verbally, so she pens them down instead. Her inspiration to write comes from her keen observation skills. She observes things around her and writes about them, capturing not only her feelings but also those of others.
Throughout her four-year writing journey, Nazima has participated in numerous competitions and secured commendable positions in them, demonstrating her talent and dedication. Among her most significant achievements are the three poetry books she has written, which have been well-received by readers. Her first book, 'Sabki Kahani Lafzon ki Zubaani — Yeh Hai Shabdon Ka Safar, Rehta Anjaam Se Bekhabar,' which got the 2nd rank in a bestseller ranking in Asia, marked the beginning of her literary career.
In this book, Kolyari pours her thoughts and feelings, sharing her perspectives and experiences. This book is available on both Flipkart and Amazon. Encouraged by the positive response, she continued writing and has since contributed to over 40 anthologies. Her most favorite anthologies are 'Saf-e-Gazal' and 'Stardust Swirls,' which were given as gifts from HTW Publication and Poetic Essence Community.
Her second book, 'Safar,' which is included in a list of Top 100 bestsellers, holds particular significance for Nazima as it captures her growth as a mature writer. 'Safar' delves into the journey of a child from birth to death, encapsulating the various challenges and experiences encountered throughout life. It touches upon life's ups and downs, married life, and the entire human journey, making it a profound read. This book is also accessible on Amazon and Flipkart. Nazima is confident that 'Safar' will inspire readers, inviting everyone to explore its pages.
Her third book is a deeply personal biography of her late father, titled 'Ahmed Ali.' Having lost him six months ago, Nazima compiled memories of her time spent with her father as well as memories from family members and penned down his life story, capturing the essence of their bond and her feelings. This book holds a special place in her heart as it reflects the profound connection she shared with her father and the collective memories cherished by their family.
Nazima Kolyari has joined many writing communities and has won many contests, collecting almost 350+ winning certificates along with the titles of 'Best Writer of the Month,' 'Best Writer of 6 Months,' and 'Best Writer of the Year.' Her poems were published in an online newspaper of Uttarakhand, ‘Gram Today'. She was born and raised in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Although she doesn't recall much from her childhood, she remembers being reserved and not opening up easily to people, a trait she inherited from her father. However, she has fond memories of being a state-level badminton player, winning medals and trophies, which added a spark to her otherwise quiet childhood. She expresses herself best through writing rather than speaking.
After she got married, Nazima's husband encouraged her to pursue her interests. She had always been fond of dress designing and used to design her own clothes, receiving compliments wherever she went. About five years ago, she put up a stall at ‘Eva’, a fashion exhibition, and received a positive response. It was after this experience that she also embraced her love for writing and started writing. Despite her busy schedule, she continues to find time to indulge in her creative pursuits, balancing her roles seamlessly.
Kolyari shares that she completed her schooling at a Hindi medium school, which played a significant role in shaping her linguistic abilities and cultural identity. She then pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree from BN College in Udaipur. Reflecting on her educational journey, Nazima emphasizes the importance of Hindi, urging everyone to take pride in their native language and cultural heritage.
When asked about her role models, Nazima says that she considers her mother to be her role model. She admires her mother's confidence, hard work, and dedication to raising her and her sister. Her mother taught her many valuable lessons, making her the perfect role model.
A line that motivates her is, "नहीं समझ आते मुझे ज़िंदगी के ये दाँव पेंच, मैं बस मेहनत की बाज़ी खेल अपना मुकद्दर जीत लाती हूँ।" By this line she means that she believes in hard work and focuses less on life’s machinations, which brings good results for her.
In her message to aspiring writers, especially women, Nazima emphasizes that no work is inherently small or big; it is a person’s mindset that defines its value. She candidly admits that she had never imagined she would become a successful writer. She believes there are many others who, Initially lacking confidence, hesitate to pursue their passions out of fear. Her advice for everyone is to close your eyes, listen to your heart, and move forward. She acknowledges that there will be many who try to discourage you, but it only takes one motivator to make a difference. She encourages ignoring the detractors and pushing ahead with the encouragement of even one supportive voice.
Her general message to everyone in the field of writing is to recognize the diversity of writers, both young and mature. As a proud Hindustani, she urges everyone to uphold and promote the Hindi language. While it is important to learn and speak English, she believes that we should never forget Hindi and should always carry it forward with pride.
She ends her story by sharing some lines she has written:
Whatever Nazima writes, she writes from the heart. Her writing has a unique ability to resonate deeply with everyone who reads it, making them feel as if her words are their own thoughts and emotions.
