Nayan is a passionate artist who lives and breathes music. His original songs are being aired on various radio and TV channels, both nationally and internationally.

Nayan Kawale is a Guitarist, Composer, Lyricist, Writer and Singer from the city of dreams, Mumbai. He also has his own music stores and music class in Mumbai.

Recalling his childhood, Nayan shares that he was born in Kurla, Mumbai. He spent his early days playing and was a pampered child. Nayan belonged to a middle-class family and remembers his parents struggling to give him and his sister a good lifestyle. They used to live in a small space before he and his family shifted to Bhayandar in 1993. When Nayan shifted to Burli in 1999, his interest in music took root as he grew up listening to songs of the golden age. He slowly developed an interest in musical compositions.

It was during his summer holidays in 10th grade that his father advised him to learn to play a musical instrument and do something productive. This is how his music journey began, and Ravi started learning to play the guitar and later took sessions under the supervision of his music guru, Ramesh Iyer, a legendary guitarist. At that time, Nayan was pursuing his Diploma in Engineering and also happened to complete his bachelor's in it, but he didn’t take up a job in that field.

Nayan shares that he even thought of pursuing Marine Engineering but felt more inclined towards music and later decided to make a career in it.

Talking about his professional journey in music, Nayan says he started by participating in a local orchestra, but somewhere in his heart he wanted to create and compose music of his own. So in 2011, Nayan launched his band under the name ‘Indo Gypsies.’ Through his former band, ‘Varkas’, he released various songs.

Speaking of his achievements, Nayan feels happy to share that his band, Indo Gypsies, became the winner of Channel V Launchpad 2012 and has performed across the country. In 2016, Nayan started his music classes under the name ‘The Artist.’ In 2019, he started his music store with two of his partners.

When asked about his mistakes, Nayan shares that he was taken aback when his team members wanted to withdraw from the band to which he had given seven years of his life. He feels that had he focused on other music projects while pursuing Indo Gypsies, he would have been in a much better position today. Nayan learned from the episode that one should not focus on just one thing but continue to pursue other activities side by side. Another mistake Nayan feels he committed was having an aggressive nature during his 20s, owing to which he ended up hurting people.

Describing his role models, Nayan says he draws inspiration from his music guru, Ramesh Iyer, and some independent artists. He is also thankful to his parents, from whom he learned the value of money.

Nayan advises aspiring artists not to be too emotional and to have a practical approach to life. He adds that they should take steps to create their own circle and promote their own art. Nayan goes on to say that they should keep learning and updating their skills from time to time. He advises them to set a goal for themselves and see what field of music they wish to enter. Nayan says that the success rate in the music field is quite low, so one needs to have strong financial backing.
