Narendra Sonawat was born and brought up in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He is currently residing in Udaipur, where he has established a coaching academy - Pratyaksh Classes. His father used to work in a bank which was a transferable job, and as a result, Narendra studied in many different schools. Finally his father decided to settle down in Jodhpur for the sake of studies and children and for the convenience of the whole family.
Narendra was always fond of teaching, he used to teach the students of his lower class during his school time and had started teaching part-time when he reached college. In 2006-07, he appeared in the state level competitive exam for the post of Sub-Inspector in the police department, but due to some disputes his result got stayed, which is still due and Narendra is still waiting for it to come.
However, Narendra joined a coaching academy as a teacher, and he was posted to Udaipur as the Director there. But due to some issues, he was fired from the coaching academy. He was very saddened due to that but he didn’t lose hope and started his own coaching academy in the front of the academy, from where he was fired, and named it Pratyaksh Classes. He worked very hard day and night, and burned the midnight oil with his students and finally produced an excellent result.
According to Narendra, Pratyaksh Classes is a premium institute for coaching for competitive exams for the defense and the police services. Narendra always admired the uniformed services and his brother in law is also in the forces so he decided to start coaching primarily for the forces.
Naredra looks up to his father in the time of struggles and admires him very much as he recalls that his father had done a lot of struggle in life and still provided the family with everything. He also considers Swami Vivekanand as his role model as he promoted the Indian culture abroad and struggled a lot in his journey towards success. Narendra also enjoys the fact that his name resembles the childhood name of Swami Vivekanand.
Narendra is of the opinion that there are two kinds of coaching academies : first kind are those whose sole aim is to earn money even if it comes at the cost of their students’ future, and the second kind are those whose resolution is to provide students not only with good coaching but also guide them towards a successful life.
Narendra advises his students to be true to themselves and prepare for their dreams with utmost honesty.
Narendra says that to start and run a successful coaching academy, first you have to have expertise in your subject and you must keep improving constantly. And, if you do not have good teaching skills, you must have excellent management skills and take care of all the faculties’ and students’ concerns. You also have to focus on the benefit of your students rather than on your own benefit and you will automatically gain the trust of your students and this will ensure success for your institute.
Narendra says that the secret of his institute’s remarkable success has been the faith of his students. He says that he plans and implements the plan right away and gives his students clear targets to achieve and then teaches his students the art of committing questions which take time and are difficult.
Narendra believes that education and experience are interrelated. And it is the conjoined effect of both that helps you grow in any field.
Narendra values his personal time and uses the weekend as a day to rest and do recreational activities that soothe him. He also had very good friends in his college who are still his friends. He says they have kept in touch with each other all these years and they have a pact of meeting once a year in Jodhpur and recreate their college life once again, forgetting all the worries and tensions of their work lives. He likes to play cricket very much and still plays with his friends.
Narendra says that if he had the chance to visit the past and be able to change something, he would like to lessen his father’s struggle in some manner. He would also like to meet his grandfather who passed away when he was a few months old. From his past, Narendra also wants to attempt his SI exam differently and meet his deceased friend who was very dear to him.
Narendra makes sure to spend quality time with his family, at least once a week and advises everyone else to do it too. He says that this time will never come again.
Narendra says that the time of COVID was really depressing and it caused chaos all around the world and many people suffered due to this. He moved to his hometown to his father’s home before the lockdown and spent the lockdown there and kept teaching his students online. He personally learned some things from this situation : we need to save money, we should also have an alternate business in case our main business closes down. He says that he himself was saved by his other clothing business. He thinks we should also maintain good immunity. He feels that he was very fortunate that neither he nor his family got infected from the virus because he maintained good hygiene habits.
Narendra has always been nominated as leader in his social circle and also in his professional life. He thinks that this may be because he always wishes good for everyone and works with complete honesty.
