Owner of Pragya Pictures & Handicrafts, Mukul Sharma is a young entrepreneur from Kota, Rajasthan, who chose legacy over a conventional career path.

Professionally trained as an engineer, he consciously stepped away from placements, private jobs, and even a Central Government position in the Statistics Department to fully dedicate himself to his family’s traditional art business.

The craft, inherited from his father—a government teacher who continues to practice the art with deep commitment—became not just a profession for him but a responsibility he willingly embraced.

The work involves precision MDF cutting, detailed hand painting, gemstone embellishment, ‘kundan-jadit’ finishing, and gold-plated embossing techniques.

Raised in an environment where discipline and dedication were daily practices, Mukul Sharma considers his father not only a parent but also his lifelong teacher and role model. When Mukul was studying in school from 8th to 12th grade, his father served as the Principal there, making those years especially formative as Mukul learned directly under his guidance and example.

He absorbed invaluable lessons by closely observing his father’s consistency, hard work, integrity, and unwavering refusal to say “no” to responsibility. Mukul Sharma learned a great deal from him—not just academically, but in character, leadership, and life values. Later, when he went on to pursue engineering in college, he found that many of his professors had once been students of his father, a powerful testament to his father’s lasting impact as an educator and mentor. From schooling to engineering education and even in shaping his business ethics, Mukul’s foundational learning has always been deeply rooted in the principles and discipline he inherited from his father.

His mother’s unwavering support and encouragement across different ventures, including earlier attempts in oil trading and road contracting, further strengthened his entrepreneurial mindset. In fact, both his parents have always been extremely supportive—never discouraging him from pursuing any opportunity or new idea. They never said “no” to his ambitions; instead, they stood firmly by his side through every experiment, challenge, and new beginning, constantly motivating him to move forward with confidence and determination.

Mukul believes that he never truly faced a “struggle phase”; however, whatever challenges came his way, he confronted them with courage and determination. Although he cleared placements in Gujarat with an offer of ₹15,000 per month, he chose not to join because he never wanted to work under someone else or limit himself to being an employee. Independence was always his priority. After that, he also worked with a road contractor for some time, but he did not find genuine interest or long-term vision in that field.

Even after securing a Central Government job opportunity, Mukul chose independence over employment. He strongly believes in focusing on one clear target rather than chasing multiple directions. With this clarity and determination, he formally established his shop and office and now operates both offline and online, selling through platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, and Meesho, while steadily expanding his reach toward international markets.

According to him, government schemes, digital platforms, and low-investment business models have made entrepreneurship more accessible than ever before. He strongly encourages women to step into the framing and handicraft industry, emphasizing that much of the kundan and detailed decorative work is well-suited for creative, home-based engagement.

He believes that women are naturally artistic and often bring greater finesse and patience to such intricate work, enabling them to excel in this field. He also openly offers guidance and support to anyone interested in photo framing and related crafts—especially women—helping them not only get started but also training them in advanced techniques and future growth opportunities within the industry.

He believes that he has never remained idle or wasted time aimlessly.
