Work until you no longer have to introduce yourself.
Monika Bhatia was born and brought up in Udaipur. She did her schooling from St. Mary’s Senior Secondary School. She then did her Masters from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, MLSU.
Monika is the Founder-Director of ‘Monika’s Aangan’ which is a value nurturing enrichment center for children. The concept is to focus on developing and inculcating values in our coming generation.
Monika has worked as a Teacher, Vice-Principal and Principal before starting this center. She says that schools provide academic knowledge but often fail to impart basic values to our kids. Hence, she thought of starting a place for young children where they can be brought in contact with basic Indian values.
Monika feels that we as parents and grown-ups do not lose a second in blaming the present generation and saying that they have no basic manners or values but the real problem is not them but us. She feels that as parents we are so occupied with our own things that we fail to give proper time to our kids. We are the ones who fail to create that environment of learning at home and depend too much on schools that are already overburdened with the responsibility of following a fixed curriculum.
Monika says that her grandfather is her Role Model. Despite having many struggles and adverse situations, her grandfather never lost hope and continued working hard. He worked for society’s welfare and Monika also wants to follow the same path.
Before starting ‘Monika’s Aangan’, she had started ‘Kala Aangan’ which provided a platform for women with skills to associate with one another and start their own businesses.
Monika thinks that Experience has the upper hand over Education. She feels that the life lessons we can learn from our experiences is something that we cannot learn from education alone.
Monika urges the parents not to preach to their children and let them naturally learn things. She feels that every child is smart.
