Mohit Mudita is a storyteller, poet, and writer. He is also the founder of the community "The Modern Poets."
Hailing from Fatehpur, Mohit left his hometown to pursue education. He has been living in Delhi since 2013. He founded "The Modern Poets" with the vision of providing a stage for budding writers and poets. His team has provided a stage for the writers by organizing events in more than 50 cities. He is also into keeping literature alive through short stories. He also wrote the play "Amrita," which is a biography of the famous author, Amrita Pritam.
Recalling his childhood, Mohit says he grew up in an environment full of books, as everyone in his family was a teacher except his father, who was in the Indian Air Force. He completed his primary education at a school near his village. Being in a family of teachers developed his interest in writing. However, he went to a boarding school for further education, where he started playing cricket. He also played at the state level in the under-14 championship. He thought of becoming a professional cricketer, but eventually dropped the idea seeing the number of people in the queue.
Once, he posted a poem to his father. It was his first poem and the first step in his journey to becoming a writer. Later, he started doing theater when he was in high school. He used to write scripts and plays. He met Anshu Joshi, who encouraged him to choose writing as a profession. After college, he came to Delhi and started attending to share his poetry. One of his poems was also used by a participant in the famous TV show, Dance Plus without his permission. However, he fought for his copyright, and later his name was also featured in the show by the producers.
Sharing about his journey, Mohit says he had always been creative and wanted to create an impact on human beings. He decided to become a writer because he believes that people will still read him even after his death. He is also fascinated by the stage, as it gives him peace. He also felt motivated by the writings of writers such as Manto and Amrita Pritam, to choose writing as a profession. He believes that writing is a transfer of history to the next generation.
When asked about his role models, Mohit says his mother, father, uncle, and baba are the four pillars of his life, as they developed his interest in writing and have always supported him. He got art and confidence from his mother, developed philosophy with his uncle, and his baba helped him in his overall growth. He also takes inspiration from everyone who is doing something in his life. Amrita Pritam is also his role model. His partner is also his role model, as she motivates him to do better.
Mohit’s life mantra is "Winning and losing are not everything. What matters is how hard you work."
Talking about his mistakes, Mohit says human beings are puppets of mistakes; if a person is not making mistakes, he is not learning. He makes mistakes every day and learns from them. Many times, he made bad decisions but never regretted them. He continued to learn and move forward.
Advising the younger generation, Mohit says the riyaz, or practice of writing, is reading. You need to read as much as you can in order to write well. You need to critique your writing in order to become a good writer. Challenges will be there, but never lose hope.
