Although many had urged him to choose Science or the Commerce stream after the tenth grade, Iqbal eventually decided to devote his whole life to teaching literature.

Mohd Iqbal Khan is a Poet and Lecturer in the frontier district of Kupwara in the Kashmir valley.

Iqbal had his schooling from local schools and completed his bachelor's degree from Degree College, Kupwara. Due to his fascination with poetry, he decided to pursue his master’s degree in Persian and was appointed as a lecturer in 2018.

According to Iqbal, focusing on one particular task leads you to success.

Quoting from Sheikh Saadi, one of the greatest literary figures in Persian literature, Iqbal says that the company of a person has a long-lasting effect on an individual.

Recalling the happiest moment of his life, Iqbal shares how his mother, a cancer patient, had predicted his selection as soon as he entered the door with a smiling face.

Iqbal has a firm belief that struggles in life prepare one to develop leadership qualities. However, interacting with students and seeing joy on their faces pleases him the most.

Between education and experience, Iqbal cannot choose one because he thinks both are inseparable.

Having seen the toughest phase of his life, Iqbal recalls how delighted he was when his parents bought him a new pair of clothes when he entered high school after completing primary education. He says that not having a sister has made him an assistant to his mother at home. Whenever his mother is not at home, he turns chef for the family of four.

If given a chance to go back in time in a time machine, Iqbal would like to obey the orders of his parents, whom he has disobeyed until now.

Iqbal’s message for aspiring teachers is to come here by choice and not by chance, because many think teaching is an easy job, but his experience says it's not.
