As a lecturer of fine arts, Mohan also has a creative side hidden within him that he explores from time to time.

Dr. Mohan Lal Jat is an Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at Vidya Bhawan Teachers Training College, where he has been teaching for the past twelve years. Mohan has been in the educational field for the past fifteen years.

Recalling his childhood, Mohan says that he belongs to a small town called Rajsamand. Coming from a family of farmers, Mohan recalls the time spent with his parents and friends in his childhood. Mohan shares that he was a commerce student before one of his mentors observed his sketching skills and pushed him towards fine arts.

Talking about his challenges, Mohan says that his father wanted him to move to a city to pursue his education and get better employment opportunities since their farming business was not doing well. In order to fund his education expenses, Mohan started doing part-time jobs like selling newspapers, which indirectly opened new doors for him. One fine day, while doing his daily chore of distributing newspapers,  a government officer informed him about a vacancy at Vidya Bhawan. Mohan trusted himself and got through the selection process.

Sharing his experiences of the pandemic, Mohan says that it was a struggle for him both economically and on the family front. He laments the fact that his little daughter couldn’t go out to play at a time when she needed to grow and learn. Mohan says that throughout COVID, he kept his family motivated so that they would not lose hope.

When asked about his role models, Mohan says that he draws inspiration from his parents, who struggled hard to make their children grow in life. On the professional front, Mohan is thankful to his mentor, who saw the talent in him and encouraged him to join fine arts.

If Mohan could go back in time through a time machine, he would stay back in his village and create employment opportunities for the youth so that they don’t have to venture out looking for jobs.

Mohan advises young people to create their own jobs rather than looking for them.He adds that they should make efforts to make their villages self-reliant and not run after city jobs.
