Mohabbat Singh Asoliya is the General Manager of Oriental Palace Resorts, a renowned resort in Udaipur.
Mohabbat has been associated with this group for twenty-seven years since the beginning of his career.
Mohabbat hails from a small village near Dungarpur and did initial schooling from the same place. Later on, for higher studies, he chose Udaipur and decided to try his luck in the hotel industry.
Mohabbat started with Taj Lake Palace as a trainee and by 1993 got associated with Oriental Palace Resorts. He believes that in the hotel industry all that is required is passionate work, if work is done at the best pace with full dedication, nothing can stop you. Considering his diligence, he was made departmental head in the resort and after that, he never looked back.
Mohabbat adds that in the hotel industry every work is to be done from preparation of breakfast to laundry and it's very basic to lose sleep for days and weeks. He remembers many of his colleagues left the industry but to him, it was dedication, which kept him going. He also appreciates the support of the management which always stayed with him and he has a respected position now.
Talking about leadership, Mohabbat says for him it came later when he understood he can't walk all alone. He was full of rage initially and became furious over small issues. His chairman Mr.KG Gattani always guided and counselled him instead of scolding him. His leadership aura became an inspiration to Mohabbat for life.
According to Mohabbat, leadership is all about compassion for work and adding a spice of hard work to it, which he best learned from his Chairman Mr. Gattani and Managing Director Shraddha Gattani.
Talking about COVID, Mohabbat says it affected the tourism and hotel industry the most. He wants it never to come back again. But with all the cons, it came with one pro that finally there was an opportunity to try making new dishes, watching television and spending time with your family which was the best thing to happen during Covid.
Mohabbat’s hobbies are as simple as his simplicity as a person. He likes spending time with his family and plans quick tours with his family.
If ever he gets an opportunity to relive a moment by visiting his past in a time machine, it will be his childhood which was full of innocence and fun.
Mohabbat considers education to be more important than experience. According to him, the value of education can never be demeaned at any cost.
He has only one piece of advice to freshers that, in this industry, one cannot run your family and work together. One has to wholeheartedly work and give it all to the business, which requires considering work as worship.
