Mitul Shah, the Learning and Development Head at a leading multinational company, is also a corporate trainer and an educationist entrepreneur at a ZICA franchisee in Vadodara, which teaches animation, graphics, and VFX.
Being an entrepreneur, Mitul opines that business can never be the output of a single night. One should have a good amount of knowledge, funds, market knowledge, and confidence and should put in continuous efforts to succeed in business. To acquire all this in real-time, Mitul works as a corporate employee to learn the art of people management and build his own business simultaneously.
As a professional corporate trainer, Mitul conducts training sessions to judge and spread awareness of the latest trends in the AVGC industry. In all, Mitul believes that before starting a new business, one should do thorough research and planning before diving right in. He is the owner of Canvas Creative Academy, a franchise of the Zee Institute of Creative Arts (ZICA). Having started this business in COVID-19 along with his brother, Mitul mentions that they started this institute with just four students and now have reached up to 204 students.
Mitul shares that managing three organisations can only be done with effective time management. One has to plan their day properly to manage everything, along with the ‘me time’ and the family time. He believes that making a To-Do list and prioritising work can help you manage multiple tasks.
When asked about his inspiration for the startup, Mitul shares that he always wanted to build a community through an educational institute. He acknowledges the contribution of his younger brother, as they both worked hard to initiate and run this institute.
Sharing his childhood memories, Mitul says he was born and brought up in Kodinar town in the Gir Somnath district of Gujarat. Later, he moved to Rajkot to pursue his graduation. During his schooling, he was an average student, even though he made sure to give it his best shot every time. Later, while pursuing his master's degree, he was detained at his college. Mitul felt that his skills were not put to the right use and he couldn't feel his inner spark, but later, he was called into the same college as a chief guest for an Expert Talk session. He was determined to make his family proud and feels satisfied to have done that now.
Talking about role models, Mitul says that he likes to learn different positive things from people, irrespective of their age. He learned consistency from his father, emotions from his mother, and time management from Ratan Tata, etc.
Mitul shares a quote that inspires him the most: "Give your hundred percent so that you never have guilt or regret for anything later." He also believes that there is always a song for every feeling we have. Hence, if we want success, we should listen to and get inspired by such songs. He gets inspired the most by "Chalti Phirti Naav Hai Teri" from the movie-’Udaan’.
When asked about his achievements, Mitul shares that unless and until there are no failures, one will not thirst for success. He says that an ECG graph, too, always goes up and down, just like the phases of life. He believes that he has fulfilled all of his dreams in a very short span of time, like making an academy, being invited as a chief guest at the same college he was detained at, etc.
Sharing his success mantra, Mitul shares that working with consistency and discipline every day in life can help achieve success.
Advising budding entrepreneurs, Mitul says that starting a new business should have some key factors like the correct location, timing of the market, and proper research of the industry. Being able to manage your finances and having the right kind of people with you also helps. Having all these points on a checklist can increase the chances of a startup being successful by more than ninety percent.
While sharing his views on education and experience, Mitul says that both of them are important for an individual. But consistency and discipline are the most important qualities for success. Even if you don’t have education or experience but are disciplined enough in your work, your chances of success increase.
Giving a message to the young Indians, Mitul says that they should start recognising the skill within themselves. He talks about the three ‘tatvas’ in a human, namely,‘ Brahma Tatva,’ ‘Vishnu Tatva,’ and ‘Shiva Tatva.’ We can also use psychometric tests to recognise our skills and pursue them with passion. Mitul shares that one should be mindful of the words they use, as every word has energy associated with it. Hence, always think positively and feel positively.
