As a journalist and a PR expert, Misbah is passionate about meeting new people and bridging the gap that exists between journalism and public relations.

Misbah Quadri is the founder of a PR agency called Monofys. She is from Gujarat and is presently residing in Delhi. Misbah has two brothers, and her parents are in journalism.

Misbah did her schooling partially at Lourdes Convent High School, Surat. Afterwards, she moved to the UK and settled there. She continued the rest of her schooling in London, followed by a degree in Law, Media, and English Literature. Thereafter, Misbah moved back to India and worked for a couple of years in journalism. While working in journalism, she attracted a lot of people from public relations and eventually made a switch.

As a child, Misbah grew up in an environment full of news as her parents were journalists. She was always fond of public speaking and meeting new people. She had been a mischievous child and a focused one at the same time. Misbah also enjoyed seeing herself in leadership roles. She says that a true leader is someone who admits their mistakes and is willing to share their knowledge.

Despite having her parents from a journalism background, Misbah grabbed the opportunities all by herself and even moved to Mumbai, where she stayed in PGs with limited resources in hand. She worked there for a magazine called Business India while pursuing a course in mass media. Misbah also worked for DNA for some time. She also met some PR professionals to try to understand the gap between public relations and journalism. Eventually, Misbah got an opportunity to work at a leading PR agency, where she was exposed to many learning opportunities.

After gaining considerable experience in PR, Misbah started her own PR agency, Monofys, with the aim of making PR more accessible to all brands, especially those who aren’t able to garner visibility.

When asked about the pandemic, Misbah says that after COVID, brands have become more comfortable adopting the digital route. She adds that the pandemic has brought PR and journalism closer. On the world level, Misbah thinks that COVID made us all connect at a deeper level, sharing all our sorrows and vulnerabilities.

Misbah looks up to people who are fearless, have their own opinions, and those who wish to build their own identity rather than follow someone else. She is inspired by the quote "Wherever you go, there you are," which keeps her motivated in life.

When asked about her thoughts on education vs. experience, Misbah says that education gives one a decent foundation. She feels that the Indian education system should focus more on practicality than theory.

Misbah suggests that young people should identify their strengths and weaknesses before getting into any field. She adds that they should have a learning attitude and always keep their minds open.

If Misbah could go back in a Time Machine, she would join the IPS or take up law instead.

Besides work, Misbah likes to travel, read crime novels and watch crime documentaries. She also spends her time on social media, sharing memes.
