Coming from a weak background, Mehmood has done well to establish his own business. While his father worked as a simple worker in a hotel, Mehmood studied hard and also did part time jobs to take his family out of hardships.

Mehmood Ali runs a business of labeling material produced by industries.

Mehmood says, after graduating, he started a job in PI Industries in Udaipur. After a few years of working in an industrial background, he thought about setting up his own industrial firm. On the inspiration of his former mentor at the biotech company he used to work for, he bought some machines with his savings after leaving his job. Now he owns his own labeling firm and is in a stable financial position.

Born in a financially weak family, Mehmood has many childhood memories filled with the sorrow of watching his father toil away for his family’s sake. He laments that today’s generation would not be able to develop skills to tackle hurdles and struggles in the long run as they only spend their time playing games on their mobiles.

Recounting his experience of the pandemic period, Mehmood says he faced problems during the Covid 19 pandemic. Orders declined and gradually stopped. His employees demanded salary to survive and he somehow managed through that situation without firing a single employee because he treated them like family members. Many business clients refused to pay upfront their dues in the lockdown which led to more financial instabilities which were difficult to account for. There were some penalties imposed on his equipment EMI but he managed.

On a personal note, he enjoyed spending time with his family during the pandemic. His time at home was his escape from the harsh reality of the economic downfall of the country. He believes the pandemic gave people an opportunity to understand the importance of familial relations and enjoy the finer things in life together with them.

In Mehmood’s opinion, punctuality is the main skill required in a business. One should be serious and disciplined whenever pursuing any sort of entrepreneurship. One should be an honest businessman. Customer satisfaction should be the topmost priority as an entrepreneur.

Mehmood is passionate about traveling and does so in his free time.

Even if given a time machine he would not like to visit his past. He likes staying in the present and gives his best every day.

Comparing education and experience, Mehmood says there should be a balance between the two. Education is not necessary for the success of any business according to him but nevertheless one must have proper education as it builds the moral foundation of an individual.

Talking about leadership, Mehmood says he firmly believes that leadership is born from the experience gained from managing various kinds of people in a business. A leader should be a friendly and reliable figure for his subordinates to look up to. One can expect to lead only by example and one must be morally qualified to bear this responsibility of managing everyone on the team. Mehmood believes that a person should not waste even a second of their life.
